Guest jakewilks
hi on the suspension side , the lower arms, from hub to chassis, i suspect these bushes as the ones giving the bad knocking when going over rough road or even slight potholes, there is no sound going forward then braking and reversing, or turning, does anyone know the best way to check what is gone, do you just get a pry bar and try and trace it by moving bushes, and if it is the main lower arm bushes can you change just the rubbers or do you have to buy the whole arms, and any idea of price as funds are low after buying car, will it do any worse damage if they are not done right away, sorry to go on john;) 1995 N/A j-spec
Nic
Toyota only sell the complete arms. Give me a shout if you need new OEM parts as should be able to save you quite a few pennies.

carl0s
Probably just the droplinks are worn. Common on all sorts of cars. ~£35 ea from Toyota.
Guest jakewilks
thanks guys might take you up on that nic, will check droplinks first though.would you believe it,,,,p****ing down today when i was going to look under the car,,typical,, the jap double din head unit, i took that out last night and inside found two ribbons pulled out of their plugs so hopefully that will now work, also another fuse right behind head unit blown, will try it back in today john

I wouldn't go around corners with any speed like that though as the car is likely to roll more than it should. I'd probably just change them anyway. I dunno if the rollbar will knock against the lower control arm even if you disconnect the links and tie them out of the way. The main problem is actually disconnecting the droplinks without an angle grinder though (or at least be lucky and have some decent hex wrenches), although you're going to have to disconnect/reconnect the droplinks to fit a new lower control arm anyway. They're also known as anti-roll-bar links if that helps.
