carl0s
What are the chances.. my lucky dip numbers from last night's lotto: 04 29 46 47 48 49 Could it be that it's not as random as it's supposed to be, not that it would make any difference to the chances of winning or anything. Pot
Technically you've got exactly the same chance of getting that, as you have of getting any other combination of numbers
Havard
Technically you've got exactly the same chance of getting that, as you have of getting any other combination of numbers Hmmm!! But what about the fact that certain combinations of numbers have never been drawn in any lottery in the world?? ie 1,2,3,4,5,6,.......... I see where Carl is coming from though, the chances of getting 4 consecutive numbers AND the six must be reduced surely?? H.
SupraChick
So dont buy a lucky dip then? Get someone else to pick out your numbers, maybe you children/nieces/nephews?

Purely chance, there'll be lots of combinations that've never been drawn...
CarlT67
That fact that 1,2,3,4,5,6 has never come up in any lottery (however is just as likely to come up as any other numbers) shows how little the odds are that your numbers are to come up, as all combinations stand the same chance.... carl0s
So dont buy a lucky dip then? Get someone else to pick out your numbers, maybe you children/nieces/nephews? Funny you say that. The kids picked two lines each, and then I stuck a lucky dip on top. Did better than usual - two numbers on a couple of lines
Havard
I had an idea a few years ago that has paid off quite well!! We play lottery roullette. Where before we were putting 3 lines on, on Weds and Saturday. I worked out that we had spent over £1250 on the lottery in the time we'd been doing it. Since then I have saved a similar amount by not doing the lottery and checking whether our numbers have come up. It gives you a great feeling to know that you have NOT wasted your money when the numbers don't come up and you avoid that sinking disappointment that a Porsche 911 is still as far away as it ever was!! Better still, if you forget to check your numbers then it doesn't fooking matter anyway!! LOL! H.
