Gaz Walker
You can't check an individual person unless you have there permission, and then you have to have a credit license... Gaz.
Class One
Data protection act also springs to mind.
Gaz Walker
Yep, I think the only thing you can do is check that they don't have a criminal record, I think you'd need a good reason to have this info (childminder etc), I'm sure Doug can clarify. Fargo
yeh think ill have to go use a PI
Class One
A PI shouldn't have that access either. If he does, then they're using dodgy sources. And everything you do when you interrogate a database leaves a footprint.
Andy C
Whenever I need to credit check tenants I use http://www.experian.co.uk or someone like that, pay my £20 and get a full written credit check/history. You get past adresses, credit score, number of bank accounts etc. Very useful.

Al Massey
Data protection act also springs to mind. but what about freedom of information act? also everytime your credit history is checked it leaves a bad score
Class One
Freedom of information act doesn't come into play if the information asked about ispersonal information about an individual. There are some clauses, but basically the interweb is the largest open source of information that there is. It's knowing how to use it. A good site is http://www.b4usearch.com/ . (IIRC you have to register.) Just depends on what you're looking for and why.
