flukey-lukey
Ok, so I've picked up another autobox from a member which still has fluid in torque convertor/gearbox. When I fit it (tomorrow) how much fluid will I need to buy? Also, I rang my local Toyota earlier and asked how much the type IV fluid is (the only fluid thats supposed to be used with mkiv autobox's) but they said 'we don't have any of that, we recommend blah blah blah somthing or other' that I've never heard of So, What fluid do I need, how much and where from? (Need it tomorrow as I've got access to a 2 poster ramp for the day only) Any help/info appriciated
Rayman
Suprised they didnt know anything about the type iv stuff its like you say supposed to be the only recommended one. You may struggle to find some for tomorrow i would have thought, maybe try and find any dextron stuff from a local motor store! http://www.redlineoil.com/products_gearlubricants.asp?categoryID=8 Redline do one, not sure if its been tested yet in the MKiv autobox tho! It sounds like it could be ok tho.

JohnA
Is the car a TT? If so, then the Toyota Type IV is the safe choice. Do a search here to see how to check the level.

flukey-lukey
Well, changed the box today... started at 9am and finished at 6:30pm It wasn't exactly difficult, but I nearly broke my back trying to put the new one on Used a total of 6litres (ish) so not exactly a full flush, but I'm happy with the results. No slipping, smoother changes and just feels loads better Thanks to Ric for taking me to Toyota to pick up some fluid
