SuperSupra
What's the best product for sealing gaps on an exhaust? I have a small gap where two sections meet that has become more noticable since I had my cat refitted then removed again for my MOT. Sounds different to normal too, bit of a 'chug chug' type noise! Tried that Gun Gum stuff but that didn't last long. Any ideas? p.s. I realise now I've posted this in the wrong section, sorry mods!
spaxy
fire gum is good mate, comes in a tube its assembly paste and sets like cement when hardened, available in most factors.

One thing I'm worried about is when it comes to MOT time again, I don't want it sealed so well that they cant separate the pipes!
Homer
Fire gum will be fine mate, it dries solid, but is easy to split the pipes apart and scrape off if you need to swap out the cat pipe at MOT time. Its only a few quid for a tube from Halfords.

R Black
Sorry to hijack, but does thew standard exhaust have gaskets between the joins?
Homer
Sorry to hijack, but does thew standard exhaust have gaskets between the joins? Not 100% sure on this, but I think it does. There is certainly one between the manifold and the 1st decat.
R Black
Thanks Homer, so i guess this has to be replaced when doing a 1st decat.
Homer
Thanks Homer, so i guess this has to be replaced when doing a 1st decat. It would be best to have one but it's far from essential. I just used fire gum and it never failed after 3 years and 30k miles at BPU
