DannyW
Does anyone know of a kit car insurance specialist? I'm thinking of buying a westfiled within the next couple of weeks and would like to check out the insurance costs. Do they frown upon Q plates? or do is not matter? All help appreciated, cheers. Pete
Sureterm Direct were the cheapest for me. About 130 quid a year for my Tiger. If you do decide to go ahead, would you be so kind to use me as a reference? If I give you my policy number I think I get some money off as a referrer. DannyW
Thanks Pete, i was hoping you would pipe up. I will definately get a quote from them and ask about the referer thing. The model i'm looking at is the Westfield SEi, hopefully with a toyota 4age in from a mk1 MR2.

Proper reverse boxes cost a freakin' fortune too. I thought about it, but a bike engine won't last as long and you have to really make it scream to get the performance. Mas
was looking into turning my MR2 turbo into a F355 back when I was an idiot, and found insurance on kit cars is very cheap, Still like to have a kit car but not a 355 anymore as I think they look rubish! Gerry
Had a couple of Westfields and always used Adrian Flux. Prices OK and when I had a huge fire they paid out with no probs and no premium increase (they also paid out on my second one when I had a medium fire)... Sold my last one last summer... Gerry
First one burned out completely in my garage (the garage went up first - think it was garage wiring / our dog - who escaped). The second was caused by a very small leak from the carbs (twin 40's) which we think dripped onto either wiring or hot engine. Was sat in it at work when it went up with my salesman who I was going to treat to a "blast" his face was a treat as he tried to figure out how to get out of a four point harness with flames coming out of the bonnet... ! He's not good in a panic situation... ! All good fun
