Hey peeps!

Fairly new to the Supra scene. Bought a manual NA end of January and I've spent the last month giving it a full strip-down and service.

Insured it from Monday and have gone through 2 tanks of fuel already! I absolutely love it!

However, I've noticed a loud clunking noise accompanied by the car jumping everytime I accelerate hard. It does it in all gears so I thought it was just oil on the clutch or something but it's still doing it 3 days on.

I took the rear wheels off today and checked the brakes and bearings, no movement. The bushes are kinda screwed front and back but I'm dreading it being the diff.

It has 275 tyres on the back so if the previous owner had been a bit tail happy could this eat the diff?

I'm not sure how strong these diff's are but i'm hoping someone has one for sale! :)

Many thanks

Mike (Somerset)

LOL well it hasnt exploded yet, but i think its about to!

Did your diff make any noise before it went or just go bang all of a sudden?

Is it when you accelerate from over-run or does it still do it from when you accelerate from being part on the gas???

I'm thinking dual mass flywheel but does the NA have one?? If not propshaft/couplings/driveshafts etc???

Err, it does it pretty much in both instances you mensioned. One of my mechanic friends said about dual mass flywheel, but like you, im not sure if it has one! I've checked the prop and movement of the shafts etc. doesn't seem to be any unusual movement. Could it be something as simple as a wheel bearing?

i have the same issue!!! i have a twin turbo import 6 speed manual pushing about 580hp at the wheels. i have just had a new engine put in coz i cooked my old one and im starting 2 get bludy irritated. one thing after another. up to 40mph its ok but anything higher and i can feel the rear wheels going round making a constant noice like every half second or rotation of the wheel its 'cha cha cha cha cha' like as if one of the wheels is flat!!! up to 100mph and it sounds like the cars guna explode! a few mechanics saw it, one said its a wheel bearing, one said check your drive shafts and cv joints and one said its the diff coz they have a common fault!!! HONESTLY im so confused its unreal!!! please help
