Guest Aaron
Hi all, Yesterday i tried to change my lower crank pully which sheered off after being spot welding in place by a garage. I took the radiator out fine, and the main cooling fan off from the spinner. But can not undo the main bolt on the crankpully, I need a tool "SST?", how easy are these to come by, and are they universal to all cars? Cheers Aaron
ECK
no mate a bit of a crude way of doing it but i just put a long bar with a socket on it made sure i had the rotation correct then mounted the bar on the pulley then the handle of the bar on the chassis then just a quick couple of flicks on the starter and WALLA!!!! crank pulley bolt loose! then you just have to fiddle with it to get it off! remember tho get the direction of the pulley correct or the bar will turn the wrong way and will damage other parts alex
Soonto_HAS_soop
In my case, I bought a new pulley bolt and hammered the old bolt off with a hammer and chisel, wouldn't come off with ANY other method, and I didn't have a SST to remove it. Good Luck!
Guest Aaron
OK, neither way sounds good to me, haha. Oh well. Ill try hammering it first, as that sounds less dangerous. But what I dont understand is how you tighten the new nut on sufficiantly without the SST?
