cashpoint
I've been offered a swap for my GTR (see signature) of an evo 6 that I have discovered was written off by the insurance company. When i saw the car though I had no idea that it was written off as there were no signs at all of the cars history. It was written off 2 years ago and apparently was repaired by mitsubishi. My concern is the owner didn't disclose the cars history, i found out from an HPI check on the car. As if i was to swap I would be trying to sell on the evo as soon as I received the V5 is it worth taking as evo 6 go for 9K and up?
absz
if the owner did't disclose that it was written off then i wont deal with him even if its a good deal:tongue: but as for the car you need to know exactly what type of damage it was and if its a cat c or d ? if mitsubishi have repaired it then he will have an invoice or contact details of the bodyshop. dangerous brain
You'll have even harder a job of shifting that car than your own. As a buyer I would want to know (A) why were you selling it so soon (and I wouldn't be pre-disposed to beleiving you only took as a PX and aren't a trader) (B) Its a cat whatever write off I'm not sure its been repaired properly and will always put off people if I wanted to sell it. It is tempting to take some of these PX's I know when I was selling my aerotop I thought about several but in the end you know your car and what it is. You really don't know this other car. You'd have to be putting in over a grands worth of margin to make it worth your while and nobody is going to let you have that kind of margin on a swap unless there is something not quite right about the deal. grahamc
how much are wanting for the evo if you take it? I have been looking for something like that, but I would want full details of accident damage. and I would not be willing to come close to a full priced evo with no accident damage. cashpoint
Before I found out about the car history I would have sold it for £9500 as it is in amazing condition. Now it would be £8500 but even on the lancer forum I'm being advised against it. Really hard decision as the condition of the car is spotless. The damage was front bumper, wing and door. AdzC
Cat C write off is quite serious and as said before worse than a Cat D. It suggests that the damage was not just limited to cosmetic and some structural/chassis damage could have resulted. This could account for the uprated suspension. My advice would be to walk away, get the niggles on your car sorted and get the true value of your Skyline.

cashpoint
Thanks for the advise guys. Well after I asked for an engineers report on the car he suddenly got an attitude so I've told him no deal. Cars plate was T968 VPU so if you see it wave at him So GTR's back up for sale at a lower price to of £7995
