Kittyclaws
cold hard cash mate - banker drafts are easy to forge! Mmmm, I suppose they are, never really thought of that. But there are lots of hooky £50 note about too. When I sold my bike it was paid for by Bankers draft. for peace of mind I took their picture (out of window with telephoto lens)when they parked up along with the car reg. Charlotte
I wouldn't say easy to forge. We except them every day. They are supposedly cleared funds (because they are written out by the bank and not the person) but actually they do take a while to clear in your account. Perhaps suggest he transfers the money to your bank? It's not easy sometimes to get a lump of cash from you bank. I was told I'd have to wait 3 days for it to be ordered! tooquicktostop
I went to the bank with the buyer to cash a bankers draft when I sold mine. I agree, I do this one as well, takes a little while longer but it gives peace of mind and makes everything that bit more proffesional
Havard
How much money are we talking about?. When I picked up my car last month I took 5k in cash in an envelope! The guy was ok with it. Going to the bank with him is probably the best idea. There is worry on both sides in a situation like this. Nobody wants to get ripped off, either with dodgy money or a dodgy car. Explain to the guy how you feel. If he is really pushy about the bankers draft then insist on going to the bank with him. If he refuses then you know he's dodgy. H. SimonB
With a bankers draft you need to phone the bank really to check it's not a forgery. Course you can't do that on a Sunday...
