Glosphil
Ok, did a couple of drag runs tonight. All of a sudden I couldnt stop, brakes were nearly non-existant. They were very hot, and seemed ok after a cool down. Does this happen to anyone else ? I've increasingly noticed a bearing chatter noise when lifting off in 1st. It seems to have gotten worse lately. Someone said its the thrust bearing... does this sound right ? is it serious ? Thanks
Nick
What brakes do you have? It doesn't take much to get fade on stock J-Spec brakes. Some good pads such as Chris Wilsons and decent fluid will help.
Glosphil
The discs are the upgraded j-spec ones, and the pads are standard j-spec ones. I'm getting some CW ones anyway, will this stop brake fade completely ? Anyone know about the thrust bearing thing ?
Al Massey
this sounds similar to a problem my mate had on his car,it ended up being the thrust bearing and needed a new clutch.
Glosphil
Im going to be getting a new clutch anyway, just dont know if its safe to keep driving it until I get one. I dont want to get stuck a hundred miles from home lol

Glosphil
What was the gearbox problem ?
Homer
The brakes shouldn't fade if you're just doing drag runs. Unless you're doing a standing burnout first (i.e cooking the rear pads). If you're getting fade on a single stop then your discs and/or pads are not up to the job.
Glosphil
It was about 5 very fast runs then hard braking. Brakes were extemely hot. More worried about the bearing noise tbh
