Anyone got a Guinea Pig?

Hiya

As some of you may know we recently lost our Rabbit (nismo) and I'm thinking about a guinea pig, but from what I have read so far they need to be kept in pairs. I've had guinea pigs before when I was a kid (always in pairs), I just wondered if anyone has just one and if its happy on its own???

Cheers

You are a very bad man!!:D

You can't replace a Rabbit with a Guinea pig. They are not in the same league.

H.

This is fact!!

My pet league would go:

1 Dolphin

2 Cat

3 Rabbit

4 Guinea pig

5 Gold Fish

You can't go down the league, its wrong.

You need another rabbit, or upgrade your pet to cat / dolphin

I have 2 guinea pigs. I would stick with a rabbit. The pigs tend to fight - they are not good together but paired with a rabbit they are fine.

They also smell a hell of a lot so must be cleaned out a lot more regularly making them a more expensive pet.

Stick with the Rabbit mate - I have

6 rabbits

2 guinea pigs

2 chipmonks

2 water dragons

1 bearded dragon

1 Iguana

1 hamster

1 German shepherd and collecting another 2 on Saturday.....

lmao! I know Rabbits are lovely guys but the fact is I actually prefer Guinea Pigs because they squeak and if handle properly are very friendly and rarely bite or scratch. Neither of our rabbits have been particularly tame and have left me with scars just from picking them up!

I just didnt really want to have 2 since mark (MrHanky) doesnt really want another pet. But hes since come home and said if they are happier in pairs have 2.

I lost my Rabbit on Tuesday!:( We had two 9 months ago and now both are gone. They were both about 8 ish and were ok as pets. I had a male Rabbit a few years ago called Lenny. He was a scream to have around the house as he would have "Tom and Jerry" moments with the dog!!:D

He died after 18 months with some kind of seizure. I am now fighting the urge to replace them.

Ah thats a shame H, sorry to hear that. I said when Nismo went I wasnt having anymore pets but I love animals but dont want a dog or cat because of the fur in the house (i'm a bit OCD on the cleaning front). Plus I think its good for kids to have pets around too.

I think we're off to the local pet shop in a little while to have a look at hutches etc. Nismo lived free in the garden so we have to get a new one

At Uni I lived with a Guinea Pig called Kevin. The other students in the house, would let him loose and he'd always end up in my bedroom under my bed, where he would shite everywhere. Fecking annoying

Guinea pigs are not my cup of tea, they are the spawn of all things evil. :D
