Pete
Surely the sale of such devices should be prohibited? http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=120946&_LOC=UK
RedM
Blimey! I can see these being used to catch employees using the net or PCs for non-work stuff. Mind you, would it come under any already existing monitoring agreement in ones contract? Just checked to see if I've got one attached.
Lewis
We use these sometimes for testing. When app testing we screen record and also log keystrokes and mouse movements. Agreed though, for general sale it is pretty immoral. It's the age old "it isn't the product, it's the misuse of it which is a problem"
JustGav
It's the age old "it isn't the product, it's the misuse of it which is a problem" Yup, I've used them before for doing documentation purposes, but overall I think they are very dodgy and should really be controlled, but as Lewis said, it is the user, not the product. edd_t
they should be. but in some cases i could really do with one of them at work for catching sneaky buggers. i guess its down to the person who is doing the catching! if that makes sense. SteveL
Totally immoral, A friend is going through a split at the moment, and we found keystoke logging software on her laptop! - installed by ex before they split. He then 'borrowed' the laptop and downloaded the captured input to gain access to her email etc.... Needless to say - I lost alot of respect for that guy after that! In the end - if its got a profit in it - someone will sell it.....
michael
The price they are charging is the immoral bit, you can pick them up for much less... so I hear

MikkyB
Could get up to some serious trouble with some of those, just walk into an internet cafe and install them on machines when no one is looking. Come back at the end of the week and see how many email/bank/forum accounts you could access - not good
JustGav
On one of the accounts I'm currently working on, the standard security policy is to disable ALL usb ports. Thinking about it now, seems like a rather good idea. (although the original reason was to prevent USB flash drives).. Mind you, it will only work with a USB keyboard. Pete
The price they are charging is the immoral bit I thought that too! I guess you'd have to be using a USB keyboard for this to work though? I wonder if it needs drivers?
