TLicense
LOL at this thread. Didn't I say that 1 pump wasn't man enough in this thread:- http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=93767 Also, using the electronic kit that myself and a guy at work are developing (as posted in that thread) you would know that a pump was failing BEFORE it failed completely. The idea being that you can do something about it before fuel pressure drops....

I really like this idea but would combine it with a relay to cut power to the igniter as an absolute fail safe mechanism.

Mike B
If that's a HKS knock Amp can I tap you up for your config and possibly wiring? Yes it's definately an hks knock amp.. but... You'll have to ask terry! It was set up and mapped for terry by Reg Riemer of RCTS in Canada, and I would be glad to give you any images, info or photo's that my layman ability can provide but I do not know the exact wiring schematics. Terry will know more specifics than I. I know it throttles back when it gets stressed (detects det) - usually only with bad fuel or (as yet untested) very high boost levels. It has a dial you can use to retard the ig with the dial to stop it interfering. full spec of the car; http://www.supravvti.com/
Mike B
I never said the fuel could flow backwards through the failed pump. sorry dude - i need to learn to read! it was my first question when talking to terry, as I could forsee a possible problem.. Pig
Im slightly confused here, sorry to be a retard when it comes to anything technical. If 1 walbro pump can pump 255 litres an hour, why would this not be man enough? If a car was on WOT for a whole hour would a 600 rwhp use approx this amount of fuel? Wez
Supra only has a 70ltr tank, so approx 3.5 tanks of petrol in an hour if you use that theory.
Wez
Dont forget the Walbro only flows 255lph at 13.8v just below static which is 40psi, static is 43psi I think. edited just to add :- 1bar boost about 240lph at 13.8v 1.6bar boost about 210lph at 13.8v I didnt bother adding 12v figures as when running the car should see approx 13-14v. bondango
thats how much fuel flows to the rail from the tank, you have to work out how much fuel the injectors actually use, the rest is returned to the tank :-) The Walbro 255lph pump is often referred to the the walbro 550bhp pump by many many sellers http://www.tweakit.net/shop/product_info.php?products_id=1524 Id stick with it as a safe recommendation...1 255lpr pump for every 550bhp you want to make :-)

Alex
I'll go with the 550BHP limit its safe, you can do more but is it worth the risk? This also allows for the pumps performance to degrade overtime without unduly ruining your enjoyment.
Ian C
At 90% capacity I'm happy, especially as it's rare I'll be on 1.4bar maximum revs. Like I said, I wouldn't go any higher, but don't read that as it's on the ragged edge now. -Ian
