Lewis
I have a straight through exhaust being fitted next week, I have a single-pipe double de-cat which means that the restrictor ring cannot be fitted between the decat pipes (as there is only one). a) I am guessing there is no physical limitation in installing it on one side or another of the pipe b) is there any operating differences depending on the point along the exhaust system to which it is fitted? I have just read the updated BPU doc, this states that the JDM will overboost to 1.6bar with no restriction, I have known of a number of j-specs which have experienced no problems without a restrictor ring, is it dependant on other mods or have they just been awaiting the inevitable? I have negated the need for a restrictor ring so far by keeping the stock exhaust system and it seems to have done the job well, are they a commonly available branded part or do we rely on mr wilson all round? ta muchly lewis
Angarak
My RR is situated between the end of the 2nd decat pipe and the start of the cat-back exhaust system as recommended by CW.
Branners
it is normally dependent on the type of decat pipe and the exhaust attached to it. A full decat on a stock exhaust wont normally boost crazily, but with something like a NurSpec without its baffle it can go nuts. More restrictive exhausts reduce the problem but its still pot luck. I used to see 1.4bar on my old import with a Rod Millen decat pipe and nurspec exhaust. JB
