Bob
Isn't it great how a glass of the expensive stuff can really wind you down after a crap day at work? :) I've just changed into my dressing gown, and am now sipping a large glass of a rather fine Cognac Frapin VSOP. Yummy. I treated myself to this and a rather nice Limited edition Edradour whilst shopping in Leicester - the Edradour is matured in Tokaji casks. For the curious amongst you, Tokaji is a Hungarian wine, that apparently is very nice with hints of honey and vanilla Any other spirits lovers on here? I'm only really starting up myself - wish I could afford the really decent stuff!

I mainly only drink on a Saturday though so don't all go and think I'm a drunk The Tokaji sounds - off to google that. Gaz.

I can give you the number of the chap in Leicester if you're interested mate, I think he does mail order - Simpkin and James, 0116 2623132. I got that info on the wine casks, but all I could get on the Tokajis was about wine itself and the spirit keep coming up as a distillery in Scotland! Gaz. Gaz. just realised it's a wine rather than a spirit; i'd guess it's a bit like port or sherry. Shame, but I'll still have to try some just to make sure
JustGav
I've given up the drink completely, however in the past I bought my dad a rather special bottle of 35yr old glenfiddich limited edition (it was something stupid like £1250, and I was working abroad so had silly money, damn could of have got some nice parts for that)...however I digress.. My dad and I enjoyed a few glasses one night on a very special occasion (me getting divorced), and it was certainly an awesome whiskey much smoother than even the 16yr old glenfiddichs.. Pot
Fair play, I've always meant to get myself into buying some bottles of 'Good' drink, but I've always found myself heading for Smirnoff every time... http://www.mr-pot.co.uk/pictures/random/vodkashelf.jpg Still, it makes use of a space in the study... Charlotte
I wish I could get on with spirits like whiskey. We went to the Jamesons distillery in Dublin and we got to taste it and it was yuk. But then, I didn't used to like red wine either. Maybe it's just a getting old thing.

They had a taste test comparing Bushmills 10yo against various others, including scotches and bourbons. He didn't mention til part way through that we weren't actually supposed to drink ALL the samples
