J-spec brake hoses V. UK spec brake hoses

The larger brakes were fitted to all UK-spec cars and J-spec cars with the "Sportspack" option. The fronts are large 4-pot calipers and the rears are larger 2-pots. The brake discs are larger diameter front and rear. Plus, the larger brakes are fitted together with 17" wheels.

A popular brake conversion, for a J-spec car with smaller brakes, is to fit the Brembo front kit (or the AP one) and fit UK-spec rears. You will, however, need to consider wheel-clearance issues very carefully (on the front especially).

A budget big-brake option is to source the front calipers and discs from Toyota. They are very reasonably priced considering their excellent performance. The cost works out to easily less than half the cost of the Brembo kit with virtually the same braking performance.

Yours,

J
