Water pump flow rate

We're rebuilding my engine as a 1.5 JZ at the mo and when we took the rad out it was clearly knacked. I was wondering whether to upgrade (been advised to) but I'm thinking that it may be unecessary weight if the extra cooling isn't needed for drag. May do the odd top speed run or short handling course in the future. I'm thinking that a stock rad should do the trick?

It'll make a lot of passes if it's a race track, on a 1/4 mile run though who knows.... The Yanks run drag engines with NO coolant, in fact they fill the blocks coolant cores with a type of concree to stiffen them.

What about heat soak after the run? Or do they jusdt assume that the solid block has enough heat capacity to absorb everything? Do they run from stone cold every time?

Don't think they warm them up much, the heat soak is catered for my the mass of material. drag racing, to me, is pointless, but I appreciate the spectacle and noise, but it ignores so many of a cars potential dynamics, there's so much hanging about for 10 seconds running, and the places the cars run are like a landscape from hell with facilities to match :)
