supraphil
hi, I'm pretty new to the modding my supra, and have just started on my journey to 800hp! Got quite a lot of work done so far, I need to talk to the dude that fitted this, but in the meantime i wondered if anyone on here could give me some advise... I've just had some work done to my TT supra, and they fitted a lag swich, i hadnt asked for it, but basically it seems to make the car idle at about 2100 and run very rich, it backfires like crazy at around 3200rpm when you lift off the power - can anyone tell me what exacly you would fit a lag switch for, benefits or pitfalls of this switch?! when its switched off the car runs much smoother and quieter like normal... Pig
No i cant, but i cold really use one of these switches!
JustGav
A lag switch???? Are you running an aftermarket ECU?
supraphil
thanks for your reply, yeah in principle its great, a mad noisy gurgle pop and bang switch for when you want it, then nice and quiet for when you dont, but everyone ive asked so far doesnt seem to have heard of this being done, im just trying to learn more about it and what exactly it does etc... JamieP
sounds like antilag:search:
JustGav
There is a method of anti-lag which some ecu's are capabke of running... Anti-lag does have a habit of wearing out the turbo's earlier... What spec is your car?
RobSheffield
Its called anti lag, and if my drunk and ahazy memory serves, it retards/advances timing to the point that the exhaust valve is open at the same time as the spark so the ignition occurs in the turbo. This is REALLY bad if you are Jspec with ceramic turbos
Pig
what ecu's can support anti lag?
JustGav
I'd VERY worried about any anti-lag system on stock twins... it would REALLY hurt them
JustGav
what ecu's can support anti lag? I believe the AEM is capable of doing it.... Not sure about Motec..
Pig
do you know if the Emanage ultimate can do it? I have a feeling im going to be splashing out on a aem very soon. I have wanted anti lag for ages. Not fussed out it killing the turbo, as IMO the turbo is a service item for the very reason that te should be being pushed too hard

Carl
My Omex ecu has anti-lag capability but as was said, it seriously reduces turbo life, but it dont half sound nice tho.... Carl
