Fuel cut

Hi,

I'm not sure what happened today with my car, but I think I hit fuel cut.

I was in 3rd/4th - cant remember which with both turbo's on line. I looked at the boost guage and noticed that it was reading just over 1bar!! I've never seen it go above 0.9 bar even in cold weather before. I also noticed that it did get to 0.9 bar as normal, but seem to judder slightly and then goto the 1 bar mark.

Then all of the sudden there was a jolt, no acceleration (felt like the brakes had been slammed on!) and the orange engine light came on.

I had a service at the weekend at CW's. I'm wondering if he has tightened any hoses up to give me the extra boost or something?

I have one cat out and an RSR exhaust, HKS FMIC, oil cooler etc. So I would expect to make slighlt more boost than stock.

Any ideas?

Paul.

I did tighten up several loose hose clamps, another thing I didn't charge you for... ;) It wasn't a service, it was an oil and filter change with a few additional things I spotted. There was also a lot of play in the throttle cable, maybe it wasn't getting full throttle before. It will also be faster without its door mirror :p

Paul, Mine use to do this when i first had it... Use to only be when i was flat out and then the car seems to kinda shut down for a second with the warning light coming on. - I'm pretty sure its fuel cut, but i'm sure someone will be along shortly to give us the details :innocent:

"It will also be faster without its door mirror :p" - Lol.... - U know f its fixable yet ?

Mines done this a couple of times, right near the end of the rev range.

I noticed my car seemed alot better when i changed my vac hoses for the Hose Techniques ones, must of had a slight leak maybe.

Wish Chris Wilson lived near me, not want to move up north?

Would half a dozen free range eggs with every service tempt you up here.... ? Thought not, worth a try though ;)

Oh yes, I can see that, the "I'm coming home from Chris Wilson's with a sorted Supra" driving style married with six eggs in the boot - you got a dry cleaning service now as well? :D

Chris lives up north? I live in Newcastle up in the North East, how far is this from me? Quite a distance i think, not far enough up north!!!!

About 170 miles, not that far. The wife did an 85 mile each way journey to work for 18 months from here 5 days a week, and the Yanks will go 100 miles for a decent meal... Can't see the point in having an autobahn stormer like a MKIV and be worried over a 360 miloe journey ;)

100 Miles for a decent meal, hahahaha thats true! Crazy Yanks!

How much would a service be mate, if i had my own oils/fluids or do you prefer to use your own?

All this time i thought you lived about 4+ hours away!!! 170 miles is only about 2 1/2 hours away. don't move!

To continue the meal analogy it's a bit like waking into a restaurant and telling the chef you've brought your own ingredients. I doubt Toyota would be too chuffed either. I have to make a butty you know :p
