Soonto_HAS_soop
Hi Guys, This looks a good place to post this! My HKS SS BOV was fine on the old hybrid setup but since I got the car back with the single fitted and the BOV welded onto my new FMIC pipework, it stalls occasionally when I lift off the throttle. In conjunction with that, I have the AEM AFR gauge fitted and where it normally runs around 14/15 odd when driving along, when I lift off the accelerator it drops to 10 which is the lowest level (green bit on the gauge). Mine's a UK TT Auto and I remember people saying you couldn't use the BOV that circulates to the air due to the MAF sensor (or is it MAP?!) which the UK cars have. Any suggestions or tests I can do to see if this is the cause of the problem, and, goes 10 mean lean or rich as I thought it was lean which doesn't make sense as it should go rich shouldn't it if the principal is as it was described to me?! Any and all help greatly appreciated!! All the best, Pete 10 is rich not lean. As for your stalling problems, I take it that you have the MAF still in place no? Peter P
Yes MAF is still in place. I imagine a full replacement ECU would rectify this but at £2k or thereabouts after just getting a re-con engine and the single conversion, I don't have the funds at the moment!!! Maybe the HKS EIDS would be the right solution? I've PM'd Nic to find out more as it sounds promising!! Cheers, Pete
Soonto_HAS_soop
I think the MAP ECU can be used to get rid of the MAF, and the Emanage Ultimate can do the same apparently, less than £500 for each I believe, plus mapping.
JohnK
Maybe happening to some as some cars are in better nick than others It happens on my car and IMO mine is in good condition and had less than 50k on the clock when I put the BOV on. My car stalled both when it was an auto and now when its manual (manual ECU too). As I have said, the e-manage takes care of it for me. The other thing to consider when saying manuals dont do it, is that it may well be doing it without the driver knowing (slim chance I know) as if you bring the clutch back up sharpish the engine will restart. Pretty sure that's not the case with mine, I had a GT4 (flapper AFM) that used to stall at every bloody junction because of an atmospheric BOV and I know how I had to drive that to keep it running.. Don't have to do any of that with the Supra at junctions, can put the clutch in right after letting the BOV off and it will idle fine.
JohnK
I along with many others would love to know why some do and some dont stall. I dont think being auto or manual has much to do with it.
Peter P
Spoke to Paul yesterday and this ISN'T the problem with mine!! Apparently the car was mapped BEFORE the BOV was installed and was doing the same thing as far as running rich when lifting off so back to the drawing board I guess!!! Paul has suggested possibly the oxygen sensor or the idle control valve so guess they'll be next on my list! Thanks anyway for the info.
