Ray
No mate it is not. I'm British and not into any religion and when I see Iraqi/Afghani/Palestinian/Israeli kids being killed it is the most evil thing on earth. For whatever reason, belief or cause it just needs to bloody stop. All of it!

dangerous brain
Well I was out there on Round 1 of this operation back when Mr Bush decided that Afghanistan was decided to be the target post 9-11. Its an incredibly instable a place, with some of the worst examples of poverty I have ever seen. I don't really know if we made a difference back then (I certainly don't think the yanks did) but they have a semi usefull governing body and the average man on the street in UN controlled areas has a shit load more freedom from tyranny and genuine life threatening situations now than they did then. To Carte blanche say Nuke the fuckers is a very short sighted in the minimum and outright racist in the extreme attitude. I understand that people get a bit arsed off with seeing "our" guys gettin done in these places but perhaps you should aim your Ire at the dicks (mr Blair and his political machine and those that elected him again) that send them there and not the majority of people in a country that is being occupied that are trying to get on with their lives as best as possible. Realise this, you sleep every night in a bed under a roof knowing pretty much your alarm clock will go off in the morning and you will drag your ass off to work. People in these places don't have that luxury, alot don't have permanent homes, alot don't sleep through the night as there is a culpable fear of being attacked at night, alot don't have a way of making a living for their familes, any money they do make can be just taken from them by any number of armed individuals (taliban or just local self styled warlords) at any time. They live a poverty stricken life under constant oppression. I doubt anyone on this forum will ever know the sort of fear these people live in on a daily basis. In come the shining knights in their shining tanks, so far experience has shown them that after a few months or even a year these knights fuck off back home and leave them to it. The poor guys that tried to help the shiny tank people end up rapidly dead after they leave. MMMM wonder why you dont get much co-operation out there. So please fellas before mouthing off stop for a mo and think about what you are saying.

garethr
When Britain was a superpower, using state of the art weaponry, and able to control an empire that covered a third of the planet, we couldn't pacify Afghanistan. The USSR tried when it was one of the two most powerful nations on earth, and failed. Why do the politicians think it will be any different this time? The USSR tried when it was one of the two most powerful nations on earth, and failed. Why do the politicians think it will be any different this time? exactly because they think we can invade there country then give them a hug and every thing will be OK (hearts and minds shite)it doesn't work like that , the government is too bloody soft, and now its too late we`ve already let the enemy in to our home look at the events of last year they were all English born. i say kill them all (Taliban that is) i can tell you now until you've been to war with the little bastards you couldn't even understand how i feel they are all nice to you face to face but i bet you if they could they would of put one right in to the back of my head. and CJ i call them rag heads because that's the preferred dress they bad guys wear just like i wear desserts i feel alittle wound up now.................tell you what get a rife and 4 mags of 30, 5.56 rounds, leave your home, your family and live in a shit hole for 6 months with every man and there dog wanting to blow you up then come back and tell me how you friggin well feel
supra steveo
oooh yeah and DB you pretty much rounded it up there, i knew a fella from Basra who spoke perfect English he didn't want to become a interpreter as he thought he would get slotted. but he told me he was glad we were there and he was a good lad

If you wanted a nice 9-5 job, home to the wife and kids every night, without the threat of violence or war then you should have got an office job and not joined the army. Prof. Monkey
Every day I am suprised that we still are trying to win a war, in that country, I still remember that in the 70-80-90's that the USSR, try to occupy the country to no avail, how on earth are we meant to suceed in such dire circumstances? I totally agree with the principles that we are there for, but how many more of our boys need to die before something happens, bottom line, being that we will pull out and thier deaths will have been in vain. These terrorists are cowards, waging a war of subjugation and deceipt. Perhaps we need to start playing by thier rules?
Swampy442
While I agree and disagree in equal measures to whats been said before, it really doesnt matter what we do to defend or protect these nations, the worlds a small place and the extremists are ever more extreme. Whatever you do in Afgan, Iraq etc be it good or bad someone is always gonna have a negative view, and with Al Quieda being a global threat, their arm can reach to any part of the world to inflict hurt and suffering. Just look at London 1 year ago. Nobody saw that coming, and thats just because we're trying to calm the middle east down. The people who died or were injured did have 9-5 office jobs. That wont save you nowadays. Im in the RAF and Im right behind what is trying to be achieved, even though I wont endure the hardships the Army have to endure. People should support their ever dwindling Forces, you dont see what we have to work with or who we have to work for.
