Terminator
Barrowed 4 tons of clay between 10.30 - 14.30, I now know the meaning of sweating buckets:d Fans are pointless if you just shift air round the room. Put them close too and blowing out of a window and enjoy the cool back draught.
toyotasuprauk
My bedroom is part of the loft conversion so it’s baking up here. By pointing the fan out the window I've managed to get it down by 2c but it still feels far too hot. Anyone got one of those portable air con units, like the ones you can get at b&q for about £250? Are they any good, noisy etc?
Scoboblio
Yeah I've got a portable air-con unit, works really well for cooling the room down before I got to sleep, but far,far too noisy to sleep with it on
Paul
Air con here too, ummmmmm 20 degrees in the bedroom:d Think I'll need the winter duvet tonight?
Charlotte
Our flat is two floors up. I don't understand, I know heat rises and everything but in the winter it's freezing in here and in the summer boiling, how does that work?

Terminator
Cold in winter hot in summer = crap insulation. In the summer of 76 I lived in a top floor roof flat, one day when I got home an antique hand painted wax of Emperor Maximilliam had melted and run down the wall. The only way to sleep was to fill the bath with cold water, drop in it and get to sleep for half hour or so then back to the bath. The only quiet air com is fully fitted. loks
I have 4 fully fitted A/C units here and one's a split level type - very quiet Mind you, it will remain 30deg+ up until end of September here though
Kopite
It's HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT here!
RedM
If you have a loft, open it up. Hot air will rise into it. If you can create a draft though your house, flat etc then that'll work even better. Get a big bottle (2-3l) and fill it with water. Freeze it and then place it in front of a fan. Works a treat.
