Daston
I just don't get it. What's the appeal? It's not like you're going to hit anything smaller than a barn, and you won't kill a barn if you did hit it with one of them. I just don't see the appeal... I mean don't get me wrong, I used to do target shooting when I was younger, so I know the appeal of shooting, I just don't see the appeal of ludicrously big hand guns that you can't really use. Because if you want someone to go down and stay down the first time no mater what armour they may be wearing then a .50 is a good bet. The Colt 355 Magnum is also a good bet because of the long barrel it has a real good accuacy and as its .355 packs a good punch as well.
ChrisSZ
Big gun and long barrel = you can shoot at the bugger before they can shoot at you and still have a good chance of putting them on his arse!! It's a bit like being in a boxing ring with someone with a really long reach - you have to be within his range before he's in yours. And, at the end of the day - it's also about power, control and fun :) (a little like a powerful car really LOL)

Kittyclaws
I miss shooting things, when i was still serving, i thought i would join the local gun club, on my first visit, one of the members was tasked to teach me, he asked if i have fired a gun before, so i told him that i have fired the Browning 9mm, SLR, SMG, LMG, GPMG, SA80, HK MP5, HK G3 (7.62MM)Gambo & 7A ( both anti aircraft). and told him for the last 2 years i have been sleeping with SA80 or 9mm next to me as I'm based in Northern Ireland,,, oh he said, he then starts to show me how to hold a pistol, and where the rounds go and what a bullet looks like, at this point i told him he was taking the piss and walked out
Daston
I fired the SA80 a few times when I was in the Cadets (yeah they gave 16 yo's guns!) loved it also used to .22 down at the rifle range but they never really taught us how it use them so I sucked could hit the target but it would have ricochade (sp?) about 4 times

Half way through this muppet's attempt at teaching me how to hold the pistol correctly one of the other guys came over who recognised me from several competitions at Bisley - the other guy went a lovely shade of pink and never spoke to me again (and I worked there as a coach/instructor for 2 years!!) stupra
The SA 80 is a good small arm now. In the gulf in 91 the things were found to jam, any adverse weather could play havoc with it (dust, crap an heat in the golf mainly). The M16 was alot more reliable, the 203 version is my fave, its got an 80mm grenade launcher attached. .
Thorin
Wow, golf's obviously a lot more violent a game than I'd previously realised.

IIRC cadets weren't officially allowed to shoot fully auto, that's not to say a few didn't!
