chilli
Just wondering - what would the best 1/4 mile time for a supra TT be if using road legal (but any choice) tyres? reason I ask is that the recent world record for the Ultima is 9.9s and I wondered if this could be got anywhere near. 9.9s doesn't sound that quick (well it does but not for a world record) but I realise tyres play a big part. Presumably you could strip a lot of the car out, fit high stall + th400, single turbo big power, rltc, even nos etc do whatever you wanted so long as it was 'street legal', could a supra get close to this world record? letmeshowyou
Leon Greens is completely road legal isnt it? and the CRD one? (though thats probably stretching it a little!!)
MONKEYmark
Leon Greens is completely road legal isnt it? and the CRD one? (though thats probably stretching it a little!!)since when do them 2 cars run on street tyres.they use et streets which are drag racing only.the ultima has some serious wide rubber to lay power down
chilli
so I guess it's 'no go' then lol fair enough, the ultima is essentially a kit car for the track that happens to be road legal too lol but what would the best time be, I'm sure the car could get into the 10s? Kopite
Don't think the Calder supe is road legal even on road tyres is it? Some serious weight reduction etc on it isn't there?
chilli
well good BPU cars can get into the 12s can't they, with more power (single) can they get into the 11s even? I'd have thought you could shed a lot of weight if you ditched everything you didn't need and made it very minimalistic like the ultima lol
Bobbeh
Paul Efantis has a 8.36@166 on BFGoodrich Drag Radials, this was 3 years ago, that quick enough for ya
chilli
lol very quick but not steet legal... just how quick would that car be (or one like it) if it had to use regular (but wide as you like) tyres?
Bobbeh
Drag radials are street legal tyres.. I'm not talking about slicks. On these: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=BFGoodrich&tireModel=g-Force+T%2FA+Drag+Radial
Thorin
Don't think the Calder supe is road legal even on road tyres is it? Some serious weight reduction etc on it isn't there? Especially now it has a tubbed rear end I believe!
chilli
right well I never realised drag radials were street legal! that changes a lot. Are the UK road legal though?
Bobbeh
Of course, they're not slicks are they
Gaz Walker
It'll be hard to get 9s with a Supra on street rubber. You'd need 1400hp to make up for the crap launch! Gaz.
chilli
blimey! so whats the deal with the ultima world record then. It managed a 9.9s 1/4 mile and is road legal and apparently that is worthy of a world record!? the only thing I can think of is that the car must be production standard too? will have to look into it further... Bobbeh
I think they mean from a standard production car. Ie you can buy it out of the box running those times? But who cares, the Ultima is more of a race car than a road car imho.
letmeshowyou
the new koenigsegg does it in standard trim I think...

Personally I'd rather see it win some races and set some lap records. Would love to see what time it can put in at the nerbergring...
Bobbeh
Doubt if its quicker than then Radical which holds the record, but then you'll probably get ultima owners saying how uncomfy and impractical the Radical is
chilli
lol probably! what is the lap record time then?
