Chris Wilson
Does sound like reed valve flutter, but you usually only hear this with aftermarket filters. Sounds like a croaking frog? They flutter as the air pressure either side stabilises on enegine shutdown. Can't you say whether it's from under the bonnet or within the bodyshell? RedM
what about the servo for the heater? when you switch it from wind screen to blowing to footwell it makes a noise Ca't be that either. Remember, this noise happens AFTER the engine has shut off. Turn keys, engine dies, noise. Will have to record it methinks.
Ewen
I get this sometimes too....I only get it when the temp dial is set to minimum, and I've pressed the inlet button to select outside air instead of the default recirc you get. I assumed it was the inlet changing back to recirc. I dont want the £5, Im happy to help.

I always have it switched to outside air and lowest setting (even in winter cuz I'm an 'ard suvvener). I've just been out to try it and I thought it may have something to do with the folding mirrors. The noise seems to happen only if I've closed them before switching the engine off. Maybe the motor locks them in or something. But I am liking your idea, Ewen. Will try it tonight when I get home. stupra
I get something similar, i thought it might of been something to do with the fuel cutting just after i turned the engine off. I dont tend to take much notice if i'm honest. .

Shaun.
It's the sound of your paranoia growing - like the screams that rhubarb makes... Pheeeew ... thought it was only me who heard their screams of pain. Onions do it too but only when cornered I've found. Shaun.

RedM
Tried it tonight without touching the heater controls and heard it but not as loud. Also, blipped then engine but heard nothing at engine cut.
JamesG
Don't know if the supra does this, but my guess is the idle air valve stepper motor is zeroing itself (moving to fully closed position) on key off. Put your ear up against it when you're expecting the noise
