You might be right on the 100RON - I was just offering a possible explanation on why the question may have been posted. Obviously the ecu can run on less than that as we don't have 100RON at our pumps. :)

Really...so what were all the Jap Import owners doing before Tesco99 OR even Optimax....??

I think youll find that Jap cars are tuned to 100RON, although im sure that the ECU has a map for fuel less than 100.

I was just using a bit of common sense. :D

why not just use a can of octane booster in the standard fuel ? as its the same thing and costsabout the same ime {not with jap cars though}
Costs about the same? I don't think that's right mate.

Don't they typically raise a tank of fuel by something like 2 octane points?

Two octane points is 0.2 RON

It doesn't raise 95RON to 97RON as the (deliberately) misleading might make you think.

I always use tescos 99ron, yesterday was the first time I have paid over a pound a litre - 100.9 pence to be exact! Not gonna cry about it tho :) as since i've gone BPU I seem to get the same or even slightly better mpg than before.
