hey

i have a big question to ask. Last night i was at the run's in Sligo and i ran agasinst a GSR. i won but at the end when i breaked my car shut off. then i turn it back on and thats when the problem started. my car will not go pass 2000 rpm. once it hit 2000 rpm it drops back to .5 and i cant seem to go pass 20 mph. and i have black smoke coming out? what can be the problem? my water gauge said it's fine but when i pop the hood it was boiling with bubbles? is there a way to fix it because black smoke = bad!

ok ill try to help here .........so a re cap-

Popped off intercooler hose will not give you black smoke - and it will not stop your engine revin over 2000rpm! you would still be able to do that!

Water bubbling - hmm now that sounds like a sensor/electronic problem shut off etc... Properly nothing to do with the black smoke was triggered/happened at the same time like most car things do.

Personally - I think that your cam belt may have slipped a notch or 2. Reasons for me thinking this

1) It will not rev over 2000rpm - ECU and sensors confused/have noticed the slip and so limiting engine as it knows something is wrong.

2) Black smoke from the air fuel mixture caused by the slip from uncombusted fuel in the chambers - which in turn will be messing up your plugs with carbon giving you a weaker spark etc... This will only lead to a worse combustion rate and more black smoke.

3) Clogged air filter - and I mean CLOGGED !! As if for some reason it sucked in a small vole.

My bets are you booted it when you were racing and the cam belt slipped a notch hence "safe" mode and hence black none uncombusted fuel mixture.

Pop your cam cover off and check the belt tension pulley too

:) start with the cheapest and work up :) ;)

...it's an NA...NA = No Turbos....no turbos = no Intercooler.

And yes it will give black smoke of the MAF on an NA or a US/UK TT is disconnected. Because as per number 2 your combustion will be off.
