EGT Temp danger zone?

I found it was approx 200 difference pre/post turbo, so I would say Post turbo 700-750 to be safe.

glad you mentioned that Terry i am moving mine from pre turbo to post as i have read to many horror storys, i wondered what the difference was

For your reference, I have reached 850 twice on my car now (since being single) the first time i had to pull over as i was smoking loads and the second time i started leaking loads of coolant! I would say terry is corect with the post turbo result!

So you have seen 850C and you are post turbo sensor location ? ..lets take the rule of thumb of 200C difference between pre and post, that would have put you at 1050C! :blink:

I have a spare engine should you need it.

 

My EGT sensor is mounted in the no 1 about 3/4 inch from the head. I usually get 750 on boost with the occasional 800. Warning set to 900. I did get a peak of 900 when I had my knackered stock SMIC, since fitting a Trust SMIC, things have cooled down nicely.
