garetheves
That's exactly what we're doing, a huge 8 man dome tent, hopefully with 4 separate 'rooms'! I really can't wait, my ticket arrived this morning. Just makes it more 'real', you know what I mean? Well we should be able to spot each other then, well be the only ones with tents bigger than our shoes.

That'd be wicked, I'd spot you from miles away!!! Well, if I don't see you there, enjoy it my friend, I'm sure gonna make the most of the time away from the troubles of real life
rik
I've been humming and harr-ing about this for ages. So tempted to go, but it is damned expensive. Even if i go for just one, day it's gonna cost me the same as new brake pads all round and a set of goodridge for the front at least. I love my music and the outdoor festival vibe, and will be missing the yearly gathering of my friends from all over the uk. But i've been to loads of these, but have not yet got my supra on the road

garetheves
WOW, what a weekend!!! Just got back from Download and had well deserved shower. Not washed since 4pm Thursday and i cant tell you the colour of the water!! Awesome weekend though apart from the state of the toilets. Highlight of the weekend for me was deffinately seeing Avenged Sevenfold, Trivium and Metallica all on Saturday. The biggest disapointment of the weekend im afraid was Guns And Roses. They were awful. Axl was his usual Whiny self, he kept taking the band off after every song due to "technical difficulties". Then the bassist threw a strop when he got hit with a bottle (admittedly full of piss). He threw his bass off his shoulders, threw it at the cameraman and stormed off stage. Came back on a minute later and had a winge saying he would "go home if people carried on throwing things"...pussy. In general as well the music just didnt cut it. Too many individual solo's and interludes between songs, it was too difficult to get in the mood. The songs, when they actually played them, were awesome. The new members of the band really play the songs well and with passion, its just a shame Axl is still the same, stuck up his own arse arsehole. Ah well. Another downer on the weekend was the news that Korn's singer Jonathon Davies was taken ill to hospital during the week so they couldnt play a full set. Instead they had a load of singers from the other bands heling them out. Was pretty cool to see but supposedly Davies is in a pretty bad way, hope he gets well soon. Will Smith's wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, made an appearance with her band Wicked Wisdom, and also came on to sing a song with Soil. Was a bit strage seeing her there but pretty cool. I didnt realise how small she was. She is absolutely tiny. Other bands i saw include: Friday: Soil, Strapping Young Lad, Soulfly, Fishbone, Clutch, InMe, Atreyu, All American Rejects. Saturday: Devil Driver, StoneSour, Avenged Sevenfold, Trivium, Korn, Metallica. Sunday: God Forbid, Dragon Force, 36 Crazyfists, Lacuna Coil, Cradle Of Filth, Bullet For My Valentine, Funeral For A Friend, Lordi, Gun's n Roses. SuperSupra: Did you have a good time mate?? Where bouts were you camping?? We were in White 4, right near the back, next to the airport. Bit of a trek to the village but didnt mind too much. Im absolutely knackard now and am off to bed. I might up some pictures tomorrow when i have sorted them out.
Syed Shah
I went to this, all 3 days. Was great, especially the second day, amazing lineup. The last day was a bit of a let-down though. GnR did not impress me, too many breaks, and just generally failed to make an atmosphere.

SuperSupra
Hey, I've only been back an hour, I went there on wednesday night so I guess that makes me proper hadcore. I agree with comments about Axl Rose being his usual twatty self, but for me their gig was in 2 parts: Part 1 - shit, disorganised, annoying, almost boring. Part 2 - very impressive musically and lighting etc too. Nice to see Izzy come up on stage to play a few too. Axl's always been a dick and he'll always be a dick, bu that's just part and parcel for me. Reckon they were still my highlight. I did however have a great little celebrity encounter: Stood there watching Deftones with my mate, and I turn round to see All American Rejects stood right next to us. Pretty strange. So when the drummer picks up a tee-shirt off the floor to wipe his hands, I laughed at him as it was filthy and probably covered in more crap than his hands! We then enjoyed some more Deftones, and had a good chat with all of them, before they had to get off to prepare. Real nice blokes too, all super friendly, and the singer actually came over to me to shake my hand and started up a conversation. Unusual for a pretty well known band to be so laid back. Was really cool. Main overall highlight has to be however, the huge bottle fight just before Metallica played, which I basically started. Me and two mates were right at the front line, in the most fun I've had in a long time!!! That is until some prick decided to come over to me and start trouble cos one flying bottle (bare in mind these are empty plastic bottles) had hit his wife. Twat. If you're gonna stand in the middle of a bottle fight at a festival, prepare to get hit in the face, cos it's probably gonna happen!!! Was so much fun though. Good shows over the weekend were Deftones, All American Rejects, Alice In Chains, Hundred Reasons, Korn (if shortened due to previously mentioned reason!), Lacuna Coil, Funeral for a Friend, and of G 'n' R. Had an awesome time, shame the silly buggers had to spoil the last night with daft behaviour. Can't wait for Download 2007!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SuperSupra
Oh, Garetheves, I stayed in the blue camp, trouble always seems to kick off in whatever camp I'm in at festivals!!!! We couldn't be arsed to walk any further and since we got there so early there was loads of room.
garetheves
Yeah i was right at the front for Metallica as well, that bottle fight was class. All sorts were used instead of bottles at times as well. I caught an orange at one point so threw that on, also used a frankfurter and a very melted snickers bar (how fit were the birds handing them out bythe way ) There were loads of people around me complaining of the bottles, but like i said if you are going to stand that close then you have to expect a degree of discomfort and cant be worried about your looks that much. Blue was a good campsite but they stunk every time i went through because they were so close to the bogs, did it not bother you. Next year we are going down on the wednesday as well so we can get a better spot. All in all a class weekend and im buying my 2007 ticket next friday when they go on sale. Syed Shah
Exactly. Where bouts did you camp?? I had a hotel, too old for camping. Tho I did regret it a bit this year given the cracking weather. As for the bottle fight - they are great fun usually, but it is when people start filling the bottles with water/stones etc that I stop enjoying it. We don't want to see people get hurt after all. Oh, the Deftones/Soulfly bit was great, they should have got Maynard out to complete the Deftones lineup tho.

You can never be too old for camping, its all part of the fun. So true. Same with everything I guess - sometimes the minority of idiots make it less enjoyable for the rest. I remember having to evade a small bottle filled with stones and general crap from the floor, at that point we kinda stopped playing for fear of death! The smell of the toilets doesn't really bother me (I know it's smells horrendous) but we were well into the field of the blue site so no probs there. Besides, there are shitty (if you'll excuse the bad choice of language) parts about festivals and awesome parts. Can you imagine a festival with no crazy, bad ass people and portaloos that were cleaned out thrice daily? Not gonna happen!!!!!

SuperSupra
Thanks for the update matey, best wishes to him from me. All the guest vocalists were good, just not quite the real thing.
