Paul Laing
Bought a Strut Brace and when fitting it, the UK vent won't let the bonnet close, any suggestions? I was going to just sell it for £60 as i don't want to start cutting vents and stopping the air to the engine......
BigRoy
Paul cant you just re route the vent. Maybe some flexi tubing to route around the brace?
Sharpie
I have heard that one or two people have used tin cutters to allow the fitment of a strut brace but, other than that ?? Here are some pic's of the part in quesiton:

Nick
Paul, Which TRD Strut brace is it as I think there's two, this one http://www.tdi-plc.com/Dawsons%20Supra.html And this one http://www.to4r.com/members/media/nils_engine3.jpg When I ordered it I was expecting the first as I had no idea there were two types. I've had the second for a couple of years now and the paints flaking and starting to rust, not impressed.
Gaz Walker
AFAIK you cant buy the first anymore, only the second one. Gaz.

Paul Laing
Not sure what make mine is, just that it's chrome with black ends. Can you trim the vent? I would have done this but wouldn't that be bad? I mean it's there for a reason right??? Paul

Timwildman
Originally posted by Gordon F You could, of course, apply the same logic to the fact that the Supra was never supplied with a strut brace by the factory Am I right in thinking that there is one between the rear struts? so must be needed there but not at the front.. because of rear wheel drive? Gaz Walker
Originally posted by Gordon F You could, of course, apply the same logic to the fact that the Supra was never supplied with a strut brace by the factory Interesting, but how many cars do come with a brace from the factory, the only one that springs to mind is BMW M3 GT Special Edition... It'll be cost saving more than anything else. Gaz.

Bobbeh
I think as a car for a die hard track enthusiast it would be beneficial. But as Toyota probably saw the car as being a motorway cruising machine they didnt go for it as there is no need for 95% of daily driving or even high speed driving.
