My mate just got car-jacked!

Cant believe this has happened.

We usually hang out in a fairly central part of Glasgow. Anywhere between 2 and 20 guys with cars all standing about chatting. On this occassion there were 3 of them, standing a matter of feet from the cars. Around 3am, they were about to leave so one of them was warming up his very nice Integra, keys in the car. Out of nowhere, these 3 chavs arrive, one pretending to be drunk. He jumps into the car and goes to drive it.

Mate No1 chases the 2 other chavs off. Mate No2+3 go for the car...cant open it and one instinctively/stupidly jumps on the bonnet. Chav fires off in the car, turns to the pavement, brakes and my mate goes flying off into the pavement. And off chav goes in the 'Teg....

Mates are all ok, pretty good scrapes and bruises though. :slapped: :bobby: Police find the car about 30mins late abandoned in a residential area (was almost no petrol in it thankfully). And as luck would have it, undamaged and...........the £3000 worth of camera equipment still in the boot!

Now he will have to claim on the insurance for it as its a stolen-recovered and it will be worth nowt. AND...now we have to be extra bloody careful whenever and wherever we choose to cruise and hang out.

Absolute pondlife, bottom-feeding scum! :flame: So be very very careful out there folks.......NEVER NEVER NEVER leave your car/keys unattended and always watch out for each other. :unfair:

Good to see he got his car back. There was something in the newspaper too about a bloke in Tesco's got out his car to use bottle bank I think, then some Tosser jumped in and drove off, he tried to stop his car but was run over in the process

Well its not nice to see in Glasgow, we've stood there for years and this is the first I've ever heard about it.

I was under the impression that if he chose to re-sell in the future, it would be worthless as a previously stolen car. But your right, within an hour, will have to look into that....

And yeah, made me think of getting some anti-hijack gear in my car.

Surely not, I thought Stolen/recovered was only applied after the insurers had paid out to the owner.

Yeah that, if the insurer hasn't coughed up any cash then there isn't an issue as far as im aware.

I hope your mate was ok .

Insurance wouldn't have paid out anything anyway. NEVER leave your car keys in the ignition.

have to agree with peter on that one, it was only an integra so does not need that much of a turn over, he would have lost the lot, unless you all clubbed together and said that he pulled you out the car ;)

It was near the city centre unfortunately in an oportunistic event. First I've ever heard of it in the middle of Glasgow..and to be honest, it could be any big city.

And James, I think your comments on Scotlands rep are both misguided and innapropriate (all scum??)...even in this light. You ever been to Liverpool....or parts of London, or Newcastle? No offence to any of them at all but any large industrial city has large numbers of undesirables.

thats shocking mate, sorry to hear, but its good he got his car back in one piece, it could have been a lot worse if they seriosuly damaged it etc, still doesnt excuse what they did tho

definitely invest in some anti-hijack mate, i have it in my supra, basically if anyone jacks my car, the car would immobilise itself after 20secs of driving or something, unless they know the code to put in, which is pretty unlikely,

to be honest i didnt realise how useful it was, didnt realise many people did this round here, obviously they do :(

Clifford Balck Jax all the way guys, must have for supra owners.

Since reading this thread I've enabled black jax on my Supra. Glad it got me to get around to doing it. I keep forgetting though.

I know the feeling. Your drive off and just as you settle down the beeps happen. I can usually input the code without pulling over.

Do you get that nerve-wracking countdown style ticking?

LOL - yeah. It starts flashing the indicators and beeping etc.

I've got the code inputting down to a fine art the number of times I've reprogrammed the damn thing to do different stuff.

It's good because it also reminds me to turn the stock T/C off as well - which I also keep forgetting to do!

No idea of cost Getrag - it came with the car.
