AlanM
My son has just come in and has just been done for 88 in a 60 (fair cop, he is 25 and this is the first time he has been charged, poor boy grew up thinking 90 was the speed limit .... lol). He said one policeman was nice guy and said he would state it was good visibility, dry conditions and no traffic and would Kris go for the fixed penalty. The other policeman over ruled him and said no fixed penalty it was going to court. However,to why I am putting this up here, the 2nd guy (same age roughly as my son and I think a bit jealous of his car as it is well looked after and looks superb) suggested he should remove the rear spoiler as it was obstructing his vision (Accord Type R). Hmm, am I correct in thinking that as long as you have door mirrors you do not even need an interior mirror? I think this from driving works vans. Bob
I thought the offer of a fixed penalty was standard for anything less than 30mph over the speed limit. And the spoiler obstructing his view is just daft. It's a shame so many traffic cops are such bitter resentful arseholes.
stt
IIRC that you dont even need a n/s wing mirror as cars from the 70's and 80's as some cars didnt have them as standard
SUPRALOOPY
errrrrrrr accord type r has that spoiler as standard does'nt it? I think the orificer should take that up with honda then!!!
lust2luv
I passed my drivers test in my mum's car (a Nova) which had no NS mirror. There are definitely no regs re visibility out of the rear window. Might just have been a sarcy comment that he hadn't seen the cop car behind him?

Hi mate, I'm supraloopy's mate also with an Accord Type R. Is your son on the ATR forum? http://www.atr.org.uk, only we have a resident traffic cop called Big Bird who is a real nice guy and answers all our 'I've just got caught ....' questions. Pete
Hmm, am I correct in thinking that as long as you have door mirrors you do not even need an interior mirror? I think this from driving works vans. You have to ensure that you have rear visibility that covers the specified heights and widths across the entire set rear range. Be that with just the side mirrors or a combination. I thought I'd get away without a centre mirror on my kit, but oh no. They lined up loads of sticks with orange jobbies at various heights. As the kit is so low that was probably the issue. Rob Davey
To the best of my knowledge and when i last checked you must have at least two mirrors: 1, two wing mirrors 2, drivers side wing and interior mirror. Vans usually have the first; some sports cars have the second (albeit usually older ones like an e-type jag) Them the rules!
BASHTHEBISHOP
recommend this site:- http://www.pepipoo.com/ some very good advice in the forums. Might not get away with it but could help limit the damage.
