Club Challenge Time Attack Series

thats why I think the Supras stand a chance, most other cars cant take 20psi on a set of stock turbos and if the track is dry then a rwd is as good as 4wd. It then comes down to driver.

I will let everybody know once they have the full set of rules worked out. As it says, the tyres just need to be DOT marked so if they are road legal then they are usable. They had so no funny fuels but withdrew that rule so cancer and blindness causing fuels are allowed !!

Hi all,

I’m pleased to finally be able to release the plans for GT Battle '06

http://www.gtbattle.com

Last year GT Battle was the 1st UK event to host D1 corporation drift demonstration on track as well the 1st UK event to hold a Time Attack competition

http://www.gtbattle.com/i/thanks/22.jpg

This year we have built on that success by bringing you:

The D1GB Drift Championship http://www.d1gb.co.uk

The UK Time Attack Championship http://www.timeattack.co.uk

and announcing

Time Attack ‘Club Challenge’

All competing on track on the same day!

Time Attack ‘Club Challenge’ will run alongside the Tuner Class Time Attack entries like these - http://www.timeattack.co.uk/competitors.asp

If your not sure what TimeAttack means – think of each of the cars pictured going out in turn to do a flying F1 qualifying lap http://www.timeattack.co.uk/history.asp

The club challenge is intended to be an opportunity for the various internet performance cars clubs to “step away from the keyboard” and settle some old scores at the place that our cars should be pushed – the Racetrack !

The rules are fairly simple :

Roll cages are allowed – not mandatory

Minimum 4 point Saftey harness and Helmet

Road legal dot marked tyres

Any suspension mods allowed

Any braking mods allowed

Any engine mods allowed – However :

NA must stay NA

Modified turbos are allowed - must use factory standard size turbine housing

Any Fuel allowed

No NitrousOxide

110db Noise Limit

We will also be accepting a few special ‘wild card entries’ from cars that are track focused but fall outside of either the Time Attack or Club Challenge regs

So if you would like to push your car on track, score points for your club and are confidant that you can make the dates. Register your interest by sending a mail with your spec to :

[email protected]

The dates and venues are :

Round 1 - May 28th (Sun) Rockingham

Round 2 - June 17th (Sat) Silverstone

Round 3 - July 2nd (Sun) Rockingham

Round 4 - August 20th (Sun) Silverstone

Round 5 - September 17th (Sun) Rockingham

Final - October 1st (Sun) Silverstone

Any hance of the safety harness rule being reconsidered? In most road cars, they are more of a safety issue than a good thing. They need proper mounts and seats to work, few do. Factory fitted gives more consistency and safety.

Yes :D Factory seatbelts will be allowed how ever longselves must be worn and windows 7/8th closed on track

However to keep the circuit saftey marshalls happy you will need a fire extinguisher - these can be bought online for about 25quid :)

http://www.driftworks.com/catalog/product_info.php?pName=2ltr-handheld-afff-fire-extinguisher&cName=safety

So who is up for going on track on the 28th ;)

cheers

Hi all,

We have had lots of feedback to the proposed plans for the GT Battle club challenge

Its clear that there are lots of exciting cars that have the potential to be very quick on track that presently fall outside of the regs as they stand

As a result the regulations have been modified to follow more closely the regs of GT Battle last yr :

1. Any Modifications Allowed

2. No restriction on turbo size

3. Dot marked road legal tyres

4. Fire extinguisher fitted – does not need to be plumbed in

Full details on the club challenge including info on how to qualify for the final at Rockingham on Sept 17th

http://www.timeattack.co.uk/RULESTACLUBCHALLENGE.asp

So if you have a modified car and want to see how fast it can go round one of these circuits

http://www.timeattack.co.uk/circuit%20overviews.asp

Send an email to [email protected] to reserve your place.

There will be a GT Battle Drift Demo at Redline Rumble this Sunday

image

If you are going to Pod check out the demo in the drift arena at 12.40 , 2.15 and 4.15 on Sunday

Cheers

Guest chiefvinso

I would consider this as I'm pretty much stock other than my decats but standard tubbies. I have no track experience except go karts but I have had a couple of attempts at the 1/4 mile so maybe its time to put some twisties in!

I actually see that as a shame, its now just a question of who has the most money and in that way is similar to TOTB where unless you are a tuner or you have a shit load of money you are just there for a laugh.

I liked the stock turbo rule, that kept the mods down to a reasonable level, you dont need strengthened internals and an IC the size of a house when running stock turbos, even hybrids.

Shame really. Means I now have to look at different people to run in the event if we want the club to make a good showing.

right, so the rules have changed, its a big wad shootout :)

So that changes who we put in to represent the club. We are looking for the quickest cars round a track and modifications are not a problem. Im think people like Paul WHiffin, Terry, Ian C etc. Cars with turbos suited to track rather than 1/4 mile.

So if any of you big boys are interested then let me know. If nobody sticks their hand up I will go with the stock turbo based cars that have already contacted me.

Its all advertising at the end of the day, thats what drives these events.

If club members really want some fun they'd best stick to or organise some track days with help from their clubs, maybe join up with another club for a battle or something.

Yep, that's a real shame the rules changed, I'm sure the event will be a great suscess, but the stock turbo housing idea seemed like the best option, and it WILL be all down to money.

Guest Time Attack

Hi guys, I know this is my first post but I was registered here as Tokyo and my name is Glen, Branners will firm that, Branners :D .

I posted this on GTR:

Remember this isn't drag racing and is proper circuit stuff so even if you spend oodles of cash on your engine it doesnt mean you'll end up romping the event as what we have is a great leveller and a measure of driver ability.

Clubs are still invited to put cars forward but it doesn't mean we will accept an unwieldly and bad handling 800bhp RX/Supra/GTR etc over a 400-450bhp track car .

I think Peter Everitt can clearly quote the amount of 'high powered' cars he has passed on the track and left for dead.

Hopefully next year a structure will be in place clearly defining rules regarding classes but for this year we have to ensure we are not excluding any people which the standard turbo rule was.

You'll be suprised at the variation of cars we have and probably even more suprised that they will probably end up beating the 'on paper' better/more powerful cars.

Time Attack has a class that people like Abbeys, Norris, Fensport, Re Work, Zen Performance etc etc will be in but the Club Challenge is not going to run away with itself and end up spoiling itself by being cheque book racing or aloof.

Hope this clears up/clarifies a few issues. Anymore questions you may want to ask personally then fire them over to [email protected] .

And yes Bobbeh the event is not a charity and requires entrants and spectators to be successful but all the same it sets out to give us all competitive event/s that we can feel comfortable with and a structure to take into account cars with standard turbos upwards. Bear with us guys, we are not trying to work against anyone but with everyone and we are trying our hardest to achieve it :) .

Regards.

Glen

thanks Glen,

Im sure we all understand why the rules have changed, it was just such a refreshing opportunity for the little guys to finally have a go and not be embarrassed when they come in 20 seconds behind on a lap time compared to a full race bred car.

Im waiting for some of the single turbo guys to put their hands up for this..

I will still try and find a suitable date to get the club down to an event en-masse as it sounds like a good event anyway, just not as we had initially hoped.
