Club Challenge Time Attack Series

over on japukmeets they are talking about doing something alongside the Time Attack and Drift series that they are running this year. The sideline event is an 'interclub challenge'. Each club puts up either 1 competitor or a few competitors who can guarantee to make the events. The key thing here is that the cars need to be running stock turbo housing, which means hybrids or stock turbos. So its an event for the people who havent gone seriously bonkers on their tuning but still have a quick car.

Theres more info at this link

stops all you glory boys with your t-61s and mappable ECUs from taking the trophy :)

It should be something like £75 per event which is pretty reasonable. Im hoping some of the fast stock turbo based cars stick their hands up for this. I have yet to have it confirmed but I believe .co.yuk will be invited as well.

Looking at the list most of the fast 1/4 mile stock turbo cars have gone single now, but Im sure others will stick their hands up for this.

The single has nothing to do with it, I know from experience, that like for like stock cars, the J-specs are faster over the 1/4 95% of the time.

There are also many differences between the UK and US cars that are only recently coming to light, like what the US spec uses the second O2 sensor for.

I dunno where you get your stats from. I've rarely seen a stock JDM in the UK let alone race. 95% sounds conclusive.

It would be interesting to see the difference between a well setup BPU car and a single turbo on a circuit with decent drivers, I dont think there'd be much in it tbh, especially if the single is struggling to put its power down.

^^^ hmm, no :) Thinking about that T67 vid, with the Supra on decent tyres, he would have minced a BPU Sup :D

I agree with you to the point where they get into their power quicker and therefore are great 1/4 mile performers, the UK/US/Euro spec turbos seem to put out higher trap speeds at the end of the day, kinda inidcates that the cars are generating more power.

Also in terms of drag racing the launch technique and decent rubber is the most important thing to decent times.

I'd love to have a go being that my only mods that are in place are RLTC and some horned badges.

Stock JDM, auto and red. Even if I came last at least I'd come last in style.

However, it's my only car and should anything happen to her, I'd be fooked.

Fair enough, but we're talking about track racing, and theres a bit more involved with a car and how it handles on a track than how quick it is in a straight line or how powerful it may be.

Besides, thats power over a 1/4 mile, can it be sustained around on track session, I remember Mark saying he had no boost control, so that would be fun :D

How about a club sponsored car setup by Mr Wilson :D That'd be fun.
