Well as the Supe has ben in th gargae gettign a resray for the last 2 weeks, I have been driving a VW Passat 55 reg with only 8k on the clock. Not a bad car up untill lat night.

Was just going up the slip road onto the M2 when i missed a gear as it wouldnt let me change up to 3rd, it then let me and as i went to change again it wouldnt budge on the gear box. I pulled over and tried to fiddle about a bit, but oh no clutch and gear box had gone !!!:(

To make it worse both me and Kerrie hadnt bought our phones with us so i had to walk for what felt like for ever in a thin top and in the snow to the emergancy phone on the motorway.

What made it worse was the fact that when i got back, as the car had died in gear it was impossible to restart it as you have to engage the clucth to turn it over, stupid safty feature!!!

In the end we managed to man handle it out of gear (sod it wasnt my car so I dont care) and it was so cold we needed the heaters on, we then had to wait 2 hours for the tow truck to come and get us at 01.30 in the morning.

God I want the Supra back lol

sorry to hear that m8 - new cars & safety features??? my g/f drives a key-less vw in work (no key just a long rectangular box thing that you push into the dash), and if it sticks in the wrong gear - rather than stall, the engine just cuts out, no warning & you have to pull out the 'key' & try to push it back in again before it will re-start - her boss was told by vw that it is a safety feature... tell someone that when it does it in the middle of a roundabout

Lol yep same key thing and yes it has stalled like that too.

And woth no handbreak how the hell do you do a proper hil start lol

tell her if you change gear and you cant move the gear stick then, when you pull over and try and there is a big bang... just give up lol :)

could have bee worse mate:

1 it could have been in the sup

2 the sup could have been out in the snow

3 you could have been in the outside lane, gearbox explodes locking up front wheels and the car spears in to the central crash barrier spins round across all three lanes then gets collected by an few other cars.............. to make matters worse the cctv doesnt capture it. so theres no replay.

tt steve

i watched motors all day on sunday......................

the no handbrake thing is something she hates, especially as she's jumping in & out from the passat to her own car... 'nother bug bearer is every time she jumps in you gotta hit brake, then hit release 'P' - if you've been driving a 'normal - older' car it can take a few minutes to sink in...

she's a decent driver so was totally lost with why the car stalled like that - she'll be glad to hear someone else understands

best news for you was it wasn't the sup :D
