gaijin
Re my recent post about No 2 not boosting. Bloke stripped her down at weekend - No 2 impellar shattered (also me), No 1 slightly damaged. He is going to enquire about replacements for me. This is going to be considerable outlay - anyone able to help with contacts etc for cheapest option. Had only done about 800 miles since buying the car. Feel sick.
Clarkey
With the price of singles kits now ... hasn't the cost of Hybrids plummeted ? Doesn't Envy do them now for £800 odd ... don't quote me. I just remember that figure being banded around.

gaijin
Thankyou, thankyou mates for your replys.Your rallying has picked me up,truly. Now i,m stuck as to what to do.Do i go single?Ive read a little on this but not that much as to be well informed.I do know there are two camps. At the moment i am still in the twin camp. When i said cheapest,i don't mean making do.After buying the car the coffers are lean;but it does all depend on the final cost. The bloke that looked at my car also said he was concerned that the brand new GReddy intercooler is OK.Fingers crossed.I havn't abused the motor in any way.The weather here has been pretty bad,wet ,cold frost,so have been going easy.Maximum boost was 1.1,then only for a short burst, mostly only 0.5 bar or so.If i bought Uk turbos, would this mean changing the manifold, injectors, mapping? Then again single has an appeal.I'm stumped.Have a good think. And thanks to all of your very welcome answers and offers i have something positive to think about. Many thanks to you again Supra community.Down but not out! Clarkey
Can you put UK turbo's on a JDM ? I thought you couldn't do that - waits to be corrected. But if you can, you won't need bigger injectors or mapping. I'm assuming you have a JDM. If you do a search .. people have put a break-down on their costs. If cost tho is a major issue to you ... speak to the Envy boys - to Hybrid your stockers for £800 + your labour costs ... taking them off & then refitting them. Tho, I think you'll be restricted to the amount of boost you'll be able to run because of EGTs and your 440 injectors. 1.2 Bar max ?
Robert
you can put UK turbos on a JDM, you just need to change and manifold and down pipe.

Ian C
At £100 for a set of 2nd hand turbo's, I'd go for that as the cheapest option. factor in another £150 to £200 for consumables like the gasket kit, oil change, coolant, and then 8 hours labour and the job is done. Not every set of 2nd hand turbos immediately explodes, the ones I sold are still going strong as far as I know. If anyone can supply, fit, and map a single kit and all it's supporting mods for less than the above will cost I'll eat my chair. -Ian

afennell
Second hand set lasted just over a year for me running only 1.1 bar. Ended up spending allot of money for a years motoring that could have gone towards a single or hybrids. If a jobs worth doing its worth doing right, standard turbos want last long if you want to start running more boost imo. Although, if the money is short and your more then happy running standard boost why pay the extra.
gaijin
Thats what i have been thinking.I wouldn't like to spend money twice on this.I'd rather spend more now and have a finished job(be broke earlier than later). The choice seems to coming down to hybrids or a single. Can anyone give me the pros and cons of these? The bloke doing the work is one of the best over here.He works mainly on Imprezzas and Evos, building anything that you want.Has a Nissan Sylvia(think) running 700 brake. He has said that if it were him,he wouldn't put stock turbos back on.I'll tell him tomorrow of all your advice, see what he thinks.Anybody out there need a kidney or a lung?Do a good deal, keen rates.Wonder if the wife will put her stockings and high heels on and take a walk around the docks?I do feel better though knowing that help is out there and good help at that. Thanks again to all who nave replied.I'm just in a quandry as to how to proceed for the best and not leave myself destitute.Where's that flamin' lottery ticket?
