Oh, and when all is done and dusted expect the thing to judder and be incredibly grabby. I have now come to the conclusion that HKS multi plate clutches are right up there with their air "filters" in the quality stakes. I have removed 5 of the things so far, as people just can't put up with their behaviour. A Giken one is a totally different animal, although structurally similar. I have driven 2 HKS twin plate clutched cars that drove smoothly, one was buggered, and the clutch slipped like hell, the other must have been made on a good day... :)

Mine was one that Chris removed from my car. The thing was undrivable to say the least! I would reconsider before you find out.....

i'll try it.i havent a problem with changing the clutch if its that bad. anyway ive just looked at the flywheel and it has studs built into it so i'll just use some m8 nyloc nuts on it.

I can supply the correct bolts, they are shorter than stock, and pretty expensive. You CAN shorten stock ones in a lathe, or if you are a real animal, with a hacksaw ;) I don't recommend it though.

chris, can you tell me the length of the bolt i would need to mount the lightened flywheel. i have access to a machine shop so can get some stock toyota bolts turned down

Not off hand, no. The difference between the clamp face thickness of a stock flywheel, and the HKS one, though. As i have neither to hand I can't give a figure, sorry.

Anyone got a stock flywheel laying around that you can measure the thickness off please?

I tore through my HKS twin in no time. Just had an overhaul kit fitted but not impressed. Brilliant and easy to drive with but I've farted longer than these things last.

how do you find it day to day though?

Day to day its brilliant. Its so easy to use and doesn't catch you out. If it lasted then I would say its one of the best. But it doesn't.

thats good to hear as at least it'll see me through the France trip, then i can decide what to go for next
