Head service.

I'm pulling the engine on my T61 next week as it has done almost five years since I went single. I would like to send the head to an expert like Mig/Jagman/CW for a regrind/stem seals/perfection reshim (!) etc. Anyone care to quote me for this (Labour)

Impossible to say without stripping it, it may need valve guides, or my preferred method on the MKIV head, nowadays, bronze liners. Anything from 300 to 800 quid, depending how far you want to go (5 angle seats, new guides, full re shim, vapour blast cleaning, CC matching all affect the price)

Understand its hard to quote, but assuming the guides are fine and not fussed about CC matching. Valve seating must be perfect (are 5 angle cuts nescesary?)

Had a local quote based on the above for around 8 hours labour (£240) but they are not Supra gurus albeit experienced high end specialists. Would rather go with someone who knows this head intimately!

I'd charge 380, assuming NOTHING needs doing to the guides and the valves are ok and none need replacing. That's if you bring or courier a bare head, of course, with just the cams in it, and no manifolds on it.

Ive got a series of built heads on hand as well if you would prefer to go that route.

Just let me know.

Thanks

I would hope that Obiwan (Ben) does join the forum as a trader and a regular member. For those of you who dont know him, he runs Power House Racing aka PHR and is a mine of great technical knowledge.

The more technical and tuning knowledge we get on the forum the better - especially from our American friends.

So True.

Hello, Obiwan, you prob dont remember the youngster pestering you by email on how you could get the 02 FB on all throughout the map, and not allow for a slight delay from the 02 sensor AFR readings and the ECUS changes, ie 02 sensor reaction time.

But you did address that and quite willingly gave an insight, whereas others wouldnt.

**Sorry for the Hi-jack**

Bhave, I got 10 Ferrea stock size exh valves if u want mate. TBH, seeing as its out the least you can do is a valves/spring swap yourself.

Cheers dude, will let you know.

Actually, I bought my PHR T61 kit direct a few years ago, spoke to Jarret a few times, very helpful.
