CJ
My car has developed this problem today. The first turbo kicks in and does what it is supposed to do but at the point when the 2nd should come online (around 3800 rpm) there is a distinct "lull", no thrust and the engine feels as if it is "searching". I am assuming the 2nd turbo isnt spooling up and was wondering what I should look for first? I have checked the hoses that can be seen at the top of the engine bay and all these seem fine. What should I look at next?
Steviekid
Check the hoses going to the exhaust gas control valve down near the lambda sensor and the correspoding VSV behind the wastegate VSV.
Class One
Was anything disconnected when your intercooler pipe was put back on?

CJ
I have just spoken to Greg at Turbofit and we think it is a problem is down to the rod coming off the wastegate actuvator. We had this porblem last weekend and thought that the new circlip put on had doen the trick but it sems as if it hasnt. Ah well, no major drama then. Pig
dont worry CJ you can have that part from my car... would save you going single....however mine was messing up too! Maybe single is the way forward!
Zed
This is almost certainly down to the EGCV. The rod has most likely broken off of the actual exhaust flap that it controls. Anyone that has gone single will have the EGCV sat around in their garage so you should be able to buy one for £50 or less. I had to pay a lot more for mine as the salvage dealer wouldn't separate it from the 2 turbos and the uk one is different. Do a search for the thread called 'is my 2nd turbo dead' this includes some pics which should help diagnose the cause. Good luck.
CJ
All sorted As Zed thought, it was the actuator arm that had managed to come loose. Now refixed and working like a dream. Once again a big thank you to Sam, Greg and their team at Turbofit for their speedy help that allowed me to collect my young lady from the airport today. Branners
CW has said he has seen a lot of the actuator arms broken. My UK spec sequential system actually had the same problem when it arrived with him. Not sure if it was done during transit or whether it was why the second turbo was shot on my car, but it gave me the chance to do a single turbo upgrade so not too much of a problem. JohnA
All this talk about singles on every other thread --- starting to contaminate my pure sequential thoughts. You are an evil lot:eyebrows:
