Anyone use Skype?

Anyone use this for gaming, or just chatting?

Any advice? Pros and cons?

I was thinking of buying it for a group I play with on World of Warcraft. plus my girlfriends mum lives in New Zealand so might work slightly out cheaper than phoning!

ALSO, can anyone recommend a decent headset? I know there's loads around, but it would be great if anyone could point me in the right direction, if they've bought one recently.

Thanks :)

Ive used it for chatting, yeah its good for home use. Teamspaek for games is much better, less lag but you need a server to host it.

if its basic chatting then any £10/15 headset will do you fine. If you want to spend a little more then a speedlink medusa 5.1 will do you nicely :)

OK, I've got the USB Medusa 5.1 headset, but it said it needs 60% of my bandwith!?

It keeps crashing my computer as well when I use certain features in the programme (headset, not skype)

nightmare! any suggestions?

have any of you checked the technology behind skype?

Remember Kazaa and the super node technology...well Skype was built by the Kazaa people and when you have it installed and running it could well use you as a super node and route data through your machine. It can be a bandwidth hog and I certainly didnt like the concept of being a super node in Kazaa...

Anyone else tried google talk, small application runs on alot lower memory..I find it great when playing games and chatting at the same time, far better than msn, yahoo, skype, paltalk, which create some lag and strain on the pc and on other big applications running.

Also voipbuster is another good one, and offers free calls to landlines in europe.

I thought it was the headphones shutting things down as I haven't even got onto Skype with them yet!

Anyone else got these headphones & had problems? My PC is about a year old, was quite a good one at the time IIRC.
