lambertpig
hi these are great cars just sold one ,engines are rock hard. check suspension for creaks and groans common prob with expensive multilink suspension arms, as cannot replace bushes without arms.some high mile cars seen with replacement gearboxes so check for any clunks or bad changes they should be perfect and super smooth.go for the sport model it is more desirable and easier to resell with sport seats 30% stiffer suspension and 18 inch alloys and bose hifi, you will pay 700 more for what is in our game is about 5k extras. top range s8 is now getting cheaper and has brembo brakes and 340 bhp .360bhp from 2000 facelift onwards.these cars are built better than anything i have driven the interior is awesome quality. lambertpig
oh and tell your freind not to bother with lpg i think it will devalue the car and will cost good money, unless you know for sure you will keep the car for soooo long .a8s will give 23mpg at 100mph on motorway. 28mpg at 70mph on motor way and 14 if you never leave town in which case an a8 is the wrong car to get being so big.get full audi history!!!! Simon K
A8 have terrible diff problems. A good few $£££££ to fix. They are knowly nosiey and therefore quite obvious. You should really get the car checked out first, as the £100 odd to check it, will save you thousands. A friend wanted an S8, and we went through loads of them to find the one he had, and then sold due to diff issues. Gearboxes as well. And, as these car's are rare, finding good ones in scrap yards is rare. So, parts are dear. He got parts from germany. Good luck. SBK
Supragal
my £100 AA check was useless. Told me it was very fast and they tyres were good. Missed the replacement wing, the screwed rear diff, slipping clutch and the huge engine misfire.
Mike
my gf's dad has a fairly new A8 3.7 quattro... goes like the proverbial off a stick and 'on rails' too.... lovely car, but drinks petrol and weighs a ton... nice car if your company is paying for it... Simon K
Your best bet is to go onto an Audi forum, and learn up about the model. Ask the guys there as thier experience will be priceless !!! You can not rush a S8 purchase as their car's which hide huge mileages but can rip the pockets of cash from your jeans. If you get a good one, then hold on to it ! Cant help but feel like Ronin !:-) SBK
400BHP
I am an Audi owner and I have looked at the A8, and the newer ones are made mostly from aluminium, they are lighter than the A6 and get better fuel economy than the smaller car, incredible!
