Aren't NurSpecs supposed to last longer than 6 months?

ARSE!

My motor is up at Leon's for a service and freshen-up.

He rang me to say that my NurSpec is fuxored as it looks like its been repeatedly bashed with a large hammer - and all the baffles in the back section are rattling around too.

The "new shape" NurSpec doesn't quite fit my Supe - does anyone else have this problem with it hanging down too low?

Basically - new zorst after 6 months - over half a K a pop pretty expensive!

Leon is seeing if he can engineer better mounting rods on a new zorst as I love the NurSpec still.

My cambelt is nearly fuxored after on 30,000 miles too - is this normal?

Also - my diff oil looks like its been in a furnace for 6 months :-) - but that's entirely my fault :D

The NUR hangs quite low, 'specially compared with std' or even

my old Mongoose ! !

BUT, not considerably lower than any of the Big-Boyz zorsts ? ?

it's made of quite heavy gauge St/Steel and needs WACKIN quite

hard to damage it enough to scrap it ! ! ! !

can't imagine my rear baffle breakin' up after 6 months either ?

it look incredibly well made ! ! ? :conf:

'sides... it's STAINLESS, so it's worth repairing ! ! !

(although, the 'repair' welds will never look quite as neat as the

original... ? ? ?)

Does this mean I am going to destroy my new exhaust within months of having it then?

It's arriving around 1/11/03, will I be speaking to Gaz for another one around May!:(

I'm off to do a search for photos of the Nur spec on, not sure I will like it if it hangs too low, may have to change it for a titanium jobbie.

Steve,

As others have said they are incredibly well made.

Maybe Rob drives like a nutter (not saying anything ;) ) or has loads of speedbumps around him.

The Nur's will last much much longer compared with a similar one from HKS...

Its the first time I've heard anything bad said about it...

Hehe folks.

I love the pipe, its incredibly well made as stated - the design of the mounting brackets were altered this year according to Leon -causing it to hang lower - unless this is something to do with my relatively later model Supe.

I'll let you know how Leon gets on messin' with the brackets on a new one to get it higher.

I dont have any unusual road bumps around here - just a lot of country lanes.

But its fuxored beyond repair Leon recks.

As for driving like a nutter ..... ummm. Not me! :D

Hrm.. with my car being lowered I'm looking forward to buying a new exhaust a couple of weeks after I get it :) I have to park up on the curb at the moment because my bloody MK3 is STILL taking my driveway (it doesn't physically fit in the garage, too wide - quality houses in Aylesbury), so I expect to rip it off pretty quickly.

Whee!

I try and steer people away from NUR Specs, they are always beaten to buggery because they hang lower, and usually the baffles and stuffing are trying to exit the tailpipe. IMO. HKS seems to last better, but they are all too dear, and of course there is stainless and there is STAINLESS,m as well as those have a bit of stainless.... :(

I'd be interested in someone who makes and fits a really good quality custom stainless exhaust that could be designed with the NA in mind (re back pressure issues, etc), if you know of anyone Chris? (or indeed can do it yourself?!) I'm sure there's a ready market of NAers out there.

What would you recommend - a custom stainless pipe?

Also fro LUST2LUV: I have often toyed with doing a full stainless sytem, but people want 3 inch pipes, which are way OTT. I'd do them in 2.5 myself, and the thing would be tucked up properly out of the way. Could do them if there was a demand, for both N/A and TT, in decent gauge high quality stainless pipework and boxes all through.

Interesting. What sort of ballpark price would you be thinking? Any noticable performance gain for a decatted NA bearing in mind my current exhaust is probably somewhat excessively proportioned? Oh and what would it sound like? (close to stock?) I know it's not the most important thing, but I'd like a really deep throaty sound, rather than the constant roar of my current set-up (though I do get a nice burble when engine braking). :)

Probably a similar price to HKS and Blitz, but for a system that will last longer and fit higher and tighter, in all stainless pipe and boxes, but unless I get a feel that there would be at least 10 orders it's not worth getting the CNC stuff done for the bends and flanges.
