I need more power! Audi RS6 Envy :(

I need more power. Those hot Audis are a bit of a problem for me. I had an RS6 Avant (I think it was a 6 - it was an estate, definately an RS-something, and I couldn't pull away from it), and a T-reg yellow saloon which I couldn't pull away from.

My car is a fully 3" decatted UK spec auto with an RS*R GT2, hitting 17.5psi absolute max, more routinely 16psi. I have still not fitted my Thor FCD (or removed the MAP sensor), so I have to lift off slightly after ~1.5 sec of >15psi boost alarm.

My IC (stock side-mount) is in pretty reasonable condition and I always run with either BP SUL or Optimax. Car feels fast.

I'm tempted to go down the FMIC route, even though I have read the discussions about no benefit. I'm leaning towards believing those who actually have FMICs fitted though, who say they have noticed significant benefits. I'm slightly weary that the FMIC adds much more area to become pressurised though, so surely increases time to positive boost. Does it?

Or.. Hybrid. (singular..). Has anybody ever gone for a half-hybrid setup, keeping no1 turbo stock (or even changing it to a J-spec ceramic!), and replacing the internals of no2 with a high-end hybrid? I don't want to loose anything on the low end, but I want to gain while at full chat.

Any thoughts people?

just looked at its 60 time its only 4.8 so possible

I'm not particularly talking about the new rs4, but even so, they're only ~400bhp, so not totally out of a bpu+ Supras league.

The RS6 is the big turbocharged V8 though isn't it.. mental.

Anyway, lets cut the Audi chat. I was hoping for some discussion on FMICs & modified stock turbos :)

The turbo's have to be the same....when in parallel mode the bigger one would stall the smaller one and give you a giant boost leak.

Ah. That's that idea gone then! Thanks for explaining it Alex.

Any thoughts on the FMIC.. I wonder if it'd be possible to botch it so I could keep my active spoiler.

You can keep the active spoiler, and an FMIC might help...the active spoiler becomes inactive though, fixed in place. Not sure off the top of my head how to do it but it is possible.

You'd probably gain more from an FMIC and cam upgrade. 256in 264ex.

Oh yeah I know I could keep it down all the time.. do the mod, but I'm thinking there must be a way to route all the gubbins in there with the active spoiler just working normally..

It can't be active with a "normal" FMIC.

Upgrade to a BPU J-spec TT - problem solved!

Has anybody tried messing around with the mounts and having it a touch higher up or something though?

Looked into it a long while back ..but I did not fancy cutting my 4row in bits to do it . It's the actual mechanism that is the killer . The mechanism folds up into the area where a big part of the bottom of the FMIC sits . Could be done so the bottom of the FMIC profiles to clear and some pipe work to match ..but then you would loose a good percentage of the FMIC that sits it the air path. Did not look into it that deep TBH I stopped thinking about when talk of cutting my 4 row popped into my head ,, But I'm more than sure if someone was making a custom FMIC then it could be overcome. Also had the idea of twin side mounts coolers on either side and could not be arsed either.

If you want more power .. why don't you just get a single kit ? Alot more lively than Hybrids

Two reasons.. firstly, I'm auto. No single is gonna feel 'right' with an auto I think.. except maybe a 57 but even then it'll be shit compared to twins when below 4krpm.

Secondly, 'cause I was thinking in the £600 price mark. Hybrid-ise one of the turbos, or fit an FMIC.. £600 should cover either of those.

hi im uk active spoiler to and will be fitting fmic soon would rather keep active but if not dont mind it down doesnt do any harm or look offensive. as for the rs6 i love these motors build quality is something else .Been checking drag times for standard cars and 0-60 is 4.4-4.7 sec and 1/4 s 12.6-13.5 which is awesome but terminals only 108-111 mph which hints that traction aids times but once rolling a good bpu +supra should at least keep up terminals about 110-118 mph. The rs6 makes 450 bhp but weighs a hefty 1840 kg a real good bpu+ supra uk about 420bhp but 300kg less i would say a match at least.

Lazy fricker! :D

Yup, I would love to do the twin mount as I think it would be the same core area as an FMIC but the benefits and good workings of the stock SMIC just 2 of them. But then theres so much good TV on and my bed is so confy I can't be arsed LOL..One day maybe.

auto singles feel way better than manuals with big turbos Carlos, they dont lose so much boost in between gear changes like manuals

the RS6 are a porsche/cosworth tuned 450BHP 4.2 V8 with 2 big turbos - short of a HOOOJ turbo you may struggle :D

Why do you say that ?

Paul Mac has a auto T61, JohnK has an auto UK car with a T61 .. why don't you have a chat with him ? CJ's car is an auto. . I had passenger seat blast when he was running the E-Manage & a T67 ... it was very lively.
