sounds like battery, and maybe a slightly iffy starter motor that freed up with a few clicks, probably wouldn't effect it though when you have a full charge.

any ideas........got to be at work all week ....no time off.....where do i get a battery.....is it a special or a halfords job???....cant take any time out as own a shop and partner away til monday skiing???

Type 005 battery I think. Halfords do a reasonable Calcium one for ~£50. My car looks like it could have taken a bigger battery but 005 is the one apparently.

My mates surf had the same prob turned out to be starter brushes but could be a multitude of things bad connection to starter, battery terminals loose, bad earth strap, dead battery etc etc .....easy enough to check all of these except starter brushes best leave these as a last resort(they are easy to fit and very cheap)lol
