Terminator
Just change the head unit and speakers andcrank up the volume and wont notice any bad noises from the engine when you dont change the oil. If you tint your windows you wont notice the smoke either.
carl0s
Yeah you're in the ICE section Jack the car up and put axle stands under it, get marigolds on your hands and a tesco carrier-bag and a torch and get your arm up through the passenger-side front suspension and you'll see the Oil Filter there. Unscrew with the carrier-bag around it and keep it the right-way-up 'cause it's filled with about half a litre of oil. Spark plugs are easy but you'll want replacement cam-vent hoses if they've not been replaced lately. Should be some good writeups on that already. terribleturner
Can i ask if the filter can be undone with the hand or will it be too tight?? Also the sump plug, drivers side or passenger?? Need to do mine too but can't decide on which filter yet

Need to do mine too but can't decide on which filter yet You should be able to undo it by hand - as long as the person who fitted it didn't over tighten it, they often do. Sump plug is on the driver's side.

Need to do mine too but can't decide on which filter yet Mine was ok by hand. If you need to use special tools on it, then you will have to start removing bits in the engine bay and do it from above. Sump plug is kind of in the middle. It's nearest the engine. The one further back is the gearbox drain (auto).

Need to do mine too but can't decide on which filter yet I pierced it all the way thru with a screwdriver and used the screwdriver as a handle to twist it round, works everytime. ardasaliah
Hi- You don't need to jack up the car to remove the filter. Just undo the nuts that hold the power steering reservoir and move it out the way. You can reach the filter this way. Get some sand paper for grip and twist. Replace with new filter. Make sure you have drained the oil from the drain plug first. Takes 10 mins mate.

China Man
sorry about the wrong section, must be half asleep. I don't think I need a oil filter change , just oil. so jack up the car and put on stands, from underneath the car remove the slump plug and drain? then just fill up from the top? JohnK
ALWAYS change the filter too! As for the spark plugs, they can be changed easily enough without disturbing the vent hoses.

Just a few turns on the jack so that the tray fits under. Lay on the floor and reach for it. The secrets is to lay on the floor correctly. I am 6.3 and 17 stone muscle and fit fine(yes bragging:) ) . No need to jack it on stands. Changed oil 8 times like this and it takes 10mins
