Willson
I'm looking at relocating my battery to the trunk area. Does anyone know of any kits or anything that might help ? I'm reluctant to screw into the floor in the hatch, as I'm sure the fuel tank is around there somewhere:eek:
Gaz Walker
Its simple (or was in my last car) Distribution block in the front where the battery was. 4 guage run to the back FUSED AT BOTH ENDS. I think you can drill into the sides of the boot, not the deep bit where the tank is. I had a marine battery box from Lucas vented to the outside for the battery (although this isnt really needed). Im sure Terry will be able to give you better advice as he's done this in his car... Gaz.

Sharpie
Gordon, I think Syed has done this in one of his cars ? Matt H might be able to help too ? HTH
Syed Shah
Nope, never got around to it. That reminds me to do this infact. Matt, how much for 6m of that cable? (the thickest one). Going to get the TT weighed on Tuesday, hoping sub 3300lbs.
Suprash
Whats that in kg then Syed. Guys, is there any real advantage in moving the battery to back, or is this just something that might help combined with a load of other things ot move. Syed Shah
Sub-1500kg. I would love to get under 1475kg, bu i'll see where it is at the moment. The advantage of relocating the battery is better weight distribution, as the Supras front end is too heavy.
Willson
Well I did it, and it was well worth it. After taking the rear seat, sub and amp (my heavy aftermarket stuff), spare, tools etc out, the rear tyres were losing traction all the time. It was a bit of a joke really. I was hoping it would help, and it has really made all the difference. Night and day, seriously. I have a toyota battery and it must weigh at least 15kg ! No box or switch at the mo though Will, post pics if I can borrow a cam off a mate.
Syed Shah
Sounds good. I take it you removed both the top and bottom parts of the rear seats? If you want to lose some more weight, the rear seat-belt assemblies are over a 1kg each. Have you weighed your car? Any other bits you've taken off? Willson
Yeah, seat belts are gone I haven't weighed my car. The stuff I removed is just what's above, really. Most of the stuff from the rear of the car, apart from the plastic trim, and the carpet. I want to to keep it looking tidy. Still one cat in though. Just for the moment. I was gonna swap my Blitz split rims for some Volks or something, but they don't really weigh any more than stock, which I was surprised at. But I decided they just look tooo good http://www.members.aol.com/gwillson75/lake

John:flame Dev Dude, yeah an in-line one like car audio, at least 60 amp I would say (maybe more on a Supra)? Maplins sell the waterproof holders for £3 each, and the the fuses are like £1.50 for 5. Sharpie
Car does look sweet Gordon. No front indicators ?
Willson
Cheers Pete, the indicators have been relocated to the sidelights for a cleaner look. Also gives considerably better flow to the intercooler. It was done by Andy who used to be on here and owned the car before me. Choice mod imo
400BHP
You can get sealed batteries that are not lead-acid, i cant recall what technology they use but you can lay them on their side to take up less room, also, you could use a circuit breaker instead of a fuse if you wanted to be really trick.. By the way, how comes your cars weight in at about 1500kg, my VIN plate says 1960kg or something around that.
