Suprasteve
I got home from about a 10 mile motorway drive yesterday night, i was driving fairly smoothly. The water temp gauge was reading normal (exactly half way) but when i parked up and got out of the car i heard a very loud bubbling noise coming from the radiator. I had a look with a torch but the battery was on its way out so i couldn't see much but i'm sure there was no leaking. I touched the large pipe going from the engine to the rad and it was bloody hot but i assume it would be hot anyways? I drove 10 mins to work this morning and everything was fine. When i get a min i'll check the water levels etc but for now do you think i have any cause for concern ?
Guru
Water levels are the main thing to check. What is the temp range that the standard gauge says anyways? I presume normal is around 90C I think so bubbling may not be that bad
mikeyb10supra
nope would'nt worry dude, as long as the temp is constant and your not losing fluid you should be fine....might just be air pockets in the coolant causing the bubbling

The car seemed fine at the time so not too worried, but nice to have reassurance....cheers guys

JohnA
I, too, would think twice before fitting a 'performance' rad cap on an ageing cooling system. All they do is force the circuit to operate at a higher pressure. Then they wonder why the rad cracked, lol...

toyotasuprauk
I had this same problem, got a new rad cap and it solved the problem. Like others have said the standard toyota cap is best.
