Mcgoo
Well, took my soop back to audi today and they kindly said they would right their wrongs with the wheel allignment. However, they have managed to break my front sub-frame!!! While turning the cam washers they managed to sheer the stops off the sub frame. So the question is, could this possibly be repaired with a weld or something or is it a new sub frame??? How much is a new front subframe?? Dont know where i stand really . Can i Demand a new subframe?? you can,t demand a new sub frame unless thats the only option all they have to do is repair it. you can have it inspected by somebody independent if you are not satisfied with what they have done and then take it further. TLicense
Errr why were they forcing it against the stops? The stops are there to errmmm stop any further movement. Tell them to put it replace anything they've damaged at their cost.
Mcgoo
Oh yeah and i noticed that the teenage monkey doing the job has jacked the car up on the sill and made a good job of mashing that aswell. I have stayed cool. Just gonna see what the manager suggests tomorrow. Funny enough he is being as nice as pie...
Chris Wilson
Just get them to (properly) weld the adjuster tabs back on. It's an old car, I always warn people having geo work done that things can and do seize, and sometimes break when trying to free them. ABS sensors are on my list of potential trouble, as I find they are often seized in the hubs and break with the removal efforts. It often pays to use a specialist as they are more likely to KNOW what's likely to break and pre warn you
Chris Wilson
The sill is another matter..... I'd be more worried about that!

suprasport
Funny enough he is being as nice as pie... that usually means they are taking the blame, whatever they offer (unless its ideal) don't accept and push for that little bit more, but be calm and polite, it will be no different to bartering, he is a salesmen at the end of the day
Chris Wilson
Depends how bad it is, may straighten, may not. A photo might help me to givw an informed opinion, if you have a digital camera.
Mcgoo
I have but the car is still at audi as they didnt think it was safe to drive with one wheel toeing out quite alot. It is just the skinney bit of the sill that is bent, the bit with the notches on for the scissor jack.

Daston
Yarrr small post hi-jack (no pun intended) Where is the best place to jack using a flat jack and not the claw type thing that "Clips" over the sill?? Just need to know as the little scissor jack is an ass to use and going to be putting the car on axle stands to paint my calipers over xmas cheers sorry for the "jack" Yarr Pirate Dave
Chris Wilson
Front X - member and under rear diff casing are best, or use a proper load spreader on the sill return. A load spreader on the chassis longitudinal box section works OK too, but it needs to be about 14 inches long, heavy guage plate or angle.
