Ewen
Fascinating how band members interbreed...causes me a headache when categorising my music collection....Fripp and Eno, goes with King Crimson or Roxy Music ? and if so should Phil Manzanera go there too ? Jeff Becks got around a bit too, and as for old Toya, shes probably been with everyone of em, not that Ive actually got any of her shite.
straightsix
I'd go with "My Way" by Limp Bizkit - not everyone's taste, but quality all the same!

chilli
wow, really impressed that King Crimson and Black Sabbath have been mentioned - two bands that surely deserve credit for some of the best songs ever (out of heavier music styles), along with Deep Purple of course! I love the King Crimson Red album, it's odd but songs like Starless and Bible Black are true works of genious. Black Sabbath related, Ozzy's live "I don't know" with Randy Rhodes on guitar is an all time classic! If you've not heard it I highly recommend it! Muffleman
Don't think it's the best, but Audioslave's Cochise is pretty cool. Oh, and if we're being a little obscure, The Energy by Audiovent - VERY cool (I was listening\banging head to it today )

chilli
yeah but the thread is about the "best song intro" after all, excellent intro, excellent song... Metallica -> For whom the bells toll and Orion both have good intro's Rush -> Xanadu - that intro is so well recorded that on a good sound system it's enough to give you goose bumps! chilli
ooo another excellent choice, forgot about that one, great song! The start of Wish you Were Here is not silence, maybe you need to turn it up a bit! What about Snakeblood - Leftfield, I love the atmosphear that builds into that stonking beat and bassline! green_dragon
Sorry, I thought we were talking about favourite song intros, not albums. I don't know anything about the group, their songs, or their history. But in my opinion, money for nothing (the song) starts well.
